First off, I have not liked most doctors who have taken care of me in the past but Thomas baker was the best doctor I have ever seen. Great bedside manner, actually believed me and helped me get better. The staff was also amazing and helpful and it’s the faster care I’ve ever gotten in an ER! Not that you have a choice since you just go to the ER closest usually but I just moved here from Columbus and this is ten times better than any of the ERs there.

I took my 4 yr old to this emergency room due to thinking he had a seizure and having some facial twitching on one side of his face afterwards. He already had a history of febrile seizures that caused him to be lifeflighted 2x. He was considered at risk for focal seizures at the time if he had another one upon doing further testing with children’s hospital. Even more so if he had another after a long period without having any episodes, he hadn’t had a seizure in 2 yrs.
well, I described everything what had happened as well as his history to the doctor that we were seeing. she told me not to call it a seizure and that nothing that I said happened indicated a seizure, even though he exhibited every behavior he previously had when he originally had his seizures + a few new behaviors. She ordered a strep test bc he had a sore throat from vomiting & choking on his vomit during the seizure, sent us home when we got the strep results. No eeg, ekg. nothing. No level of any type of concern.
Well, luckily we had already decided to give the neurologist unit at Childrens a call. We finally got to our appointment this Tuesday, the neurologist we went to see told us that everything I described sounded like a focal seizure and got orders for testing immediately. I get that these ER doctors job to know a little bit about everything, but if you don’t know that it was a seizure or not then say that and send me to someone who does. You’re playing with people’s lives, here! Anyways, if you’re reading this and you are able to go elsewhere…please do. I wouldn’t come here again unless absolutely necessary. Next time, I will be taking my son straight to children’s hospital or a hospital in a closer county.
My spouse was admitted into the ER for a rare neurological disorder that is related to COVID. Due to him having COVID I was not about to be present in the hospital with him. He walked in to the emergency room at around 9:30 am. At 3:00 pm I contacted the front desk at the emergency department asking if I could speak to a nurse to get an update in regards to my husband they stated that they would have a nurse contact me and asked for my number. I never received a call back so I tried contacting again at 6:45 pm as I spoke with Briana in the Emergency Department (without telling her who I was) she proceeded to ask me if I was not able to contact my husband, I said yes he has his cell phone to which she replied, " he's a 27 year old man, he should be able to relay the messages." I then asked if I was not allowed to speak to his nurse to which she said she would put me on hold and see. I hung up the phone because I was absolutely appalled by the response I received. I just wanted to speak to a medical professional about what the plan of action was for my husband.

Get ready to wait and get treated like trash while you do it...the hospital isn't bad but the ER is a joke.

Go here if you like:
Staph infection.
Negligence.
Dirty rooms, including used needles on floors. (my son was 2 when he found that one)
Rude doctors (and sometimes staff)
Long wait times.
Inconsistent and unreliable care.
Sick staff coughing on you.
Prison like atmosphere with cops, guards and visible security devices.
Being integrated and accused of child abuse or drug use when there is none.
Go to Marietta, Coshocton, or Licking Memorial.
All three of those local hospitals are clean, calm, and caring.
With a totally different atmosphere.
I've had care at them all, and known others including my children.
We all have the same opinion.
PS: to that lady that just answered the phone. You are rude, lazy and need a new job where you are not in a position to talk to worried family members.
