I made my first appointment with Dr. Schmetterer due to a varicose vein in my lower leg that had burst open on two separate occasions. Both times, I lost a large amount of blood as the pressure caused the vein to behave like an artery that had been severed.
I first began my journey to address the issue by seeking the advice of a local vascular surgeon who my family doctor had recommended. They offered a solution called vein stripping, which is as scary as it sounds! After searching for a better way, I found Dr. Schmetterer who is also a vascular surgeon, but his solutions were far superior and highly effective.
When I began treatment, I discovered through ultrasound that I had venous insufficiency in both legs caused by valves that were no longer working properly, which subsequently caused blood to pool in both legs. After treatment with Dr. Schmetterer, additional ultrasounds showed that all issues were resolved. It was a huge relief!
Dr. Schmetterer and his staff are competent, caring, and very accommodating. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Schmetterer. If you're having any issues with your veins, I would highly recommend setting up a consultation with him. You won't regret it.

First, let me say my review does not at all involve or reflect his wonderful staff, who went absolutely above and beyond to the point I feel sorry having to leave this review...they are the reason I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1.
This is regarding the behavior and professionalism of Dr. Schmetterer only.
Today, I was frankly appalled by his behavior, and have never felt so disrespected by a professional in my life.
I attended an appointment for my grandmother, who due to a severe stroke, needs a caregiver to accurately answer questions on her behalf regarding her history and care.
From the time the doctor entered the room, to the very end of the appointment, he did not so much as say hello to me or even glance in my direction, angling himself toward my grandmother's wheelchair and talking only to her. While I do very much appreciate when doctors equally include her in the conversation and not talk solely to me, this was completely different- my presence was completely ignored the entire time, as if I wasn't even in the room.
At the very end, while asking if she had any questions, I finally piped in to correct a few of her previous statements to give the doctor a better idea of her previous care. In attempting to speak, I was rudely interrupted and talked over each time. Furthermore, despite it being apparent my grandmother was very cognitively impaired and having trouble following the doctor's words, he spoke to her in a way that came across as very short and demeaning.
Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Again, thank you very much to the wonderful staff who assisted with transport and providing a wheelchair and ramp for us. I apologize to them for leaving this review, and I only hope this doctor does not treat them with the same level of disregard and disrespect that I witnessed today.
Thanks.

Dr. Schmetterer is the type of doctor who cares about all patients. When they enter your name in the computer, it doesn’t feel like red flags has popped up. If the world had more doctors like him, it would be a healthier world.

Dr. Schmetterer and his staff did a wonderful and professional job in helping me with the problems in my legs. Dr. Schmetterer took the time with me to explain my problem, and how he would treat it. I feel the treatments were very successful, and my legs feel much improved. I highly recommend this office.
