The doctors do NOT listen to what their patients are saying! And don’t take any Tylenol before going because then the fever you have had for days isn’t real and they will do more tests if you develop a fever. I am a nurse with a masters degree and this place was a joke!

My husband and I were visiting family and friends in Xenia when I needed medical attention. I arrived at GMH emergency room at 7:00 on Oct. 18, 2021 with blood coming from my colon. You triage nurse was so welcoming and efficient! He did blood work, blood pressure, ox level took me back to an examination room where I put on a gown. Dr. Kiefaber came and listened very carefully to my symptoms, asked appropriate questions and ordered a pelvic cat scan. The female tech was so upbeat and kind. The doctor read the scan, talked about what he could see, then prescribed an antibiotic, which I picked up later. He recommended I make an appointment with my GP when I got home; which I have done.
Every person I dealt with in that ER was just wonderful. From going in to coming out. I didn’t mind the time spent there and went home feeling very confident that I would soon be on the mend.
I have heard rumors that GMH will someday close. That saddens me as I remember it being built and spent a few days there myself getting my tonsils out when I was but 7 years old. My mother and father spent weeks there during illnesses and surgeries years ago. My brother died there five years ago and I was happy that I could see him without making a journey to Kettering or Dayton.
In spite of your bottom line, I think Xenia deserves it’s own hospital. It gave me great comfort that an ER was so close and easy to get to during my visit.
It came very highly recommended.
Thanks to the GMH ER staff. They were 5 Star stellar!
