Kettering Health network is a joke. My partner was in the ER 4 times in 5 days due to excruciating pain leaving him unable to move - 3 of those visits were to Kettering, twice in Springfield and once in Xenia. My partner was denied pain meds for the entirety of his last visit, and sent home in even more pain than he arrived in. He begged not to be sent home on two separate visits because we were just going to have to come right back “if the pain gets worse” despite the pain BEING worse already. Somehow being unable to walk and in 10/10 pain constitutes being stable. Even worse though, was their expectation of follow-up care. TWO separate ER doctors at TWO Kettering ERs provided a referral to a KETTERING HEALTH GI doctor. After waiting the entire weekend with our last shred of hope to call the GI, we were informed by the receptionist that “they do not take referrals from the ER, never have, and they have notified the ER of this but still continue getting referrals”. How is that possible that YOUR OWN health network will not take a referral from one of its doctors? How have they been informed numerous times yet still refer to them? Unfortunately if that wasn’t bad enough, Patient Relations has been a nightmare to deal with and insists “all care and referrals were appropriate”. I’m not sure how you can double down on an unacceptable referral being appropriate - your failure to communicate with your own doctors causes delays in patient care and doctors and nurses do not take pain seriously. But, miss Karolyn from Patient Relations affirms that after “official investigation” they didn’t do anything wrong, of course. I’m not sure why they refuse to take this referral issue seriously. I would advise going to literally any other hospital if you want them to take you seriously and provide actual steps for follow up care, not a fake referral knowing it won’t be taken. But don’t worry, if you do go to Kettering, they’ll just “wish you all of god’s blessings for good health”, because screw
science I guess, a fictional character will make you all better.
