He was quick to respond to all of our questions, very friendly and personable, and he took extra time to make sure Danielle’s chair fit her perfectly. David never made us feel rushed and really cared about getting everything just right for her needs. The entire process ended up being quick and easy, which we really appreciated during an already stressful time. We’re very grateful for the care and attention David showed our family and would highly recommend National Seating & Mobility.

My husband initially thought a scooter would be most helpful, but getting in and out of a scooter was challenging. Because of these challenges, Dave recommended a motorized wheelchair instead of a scooter. My husband was able to try out the wheelchair in our home. As my husband's caregiver, I was pleased with the safety features, such as the seat belt. I also appreciated the fact that I could easily disassemble the chair to put it in my car. My husband has been spending the majority of his time in bed for the past nine months. That ends today. Dave delivered my husband's chair and patiently went over everything we needed to know about it. I was able to practice putting the chair together and taking it apart while he was here. My husband practiced maneuvering in the chair while Dave explained the settings and speeds. Both of us feel confident and comfortable. I cannot express how wonderful Mr. Viars made this experience for us. We are grateful for his expertise and for all his help

We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
