It was his first time visiting, and I have personally only been to this location a handful of times. After finishing my workout, I entered the spa area and attempted to book a tanning bed under my account. I was unaware that doing so for my guest was not permitted, as this was never explained to me previously. Rather than being informed of the policy in a professional or constructive way, I was immediately accused of being a repeat offender. The staff member stated that “we do this every time” and threatened to cancel my membership if it happened again. This accusation was both untrue and unnecessarily hostile, considering this was only my third visit to Planet Fitness in general. Her tone was rude, accusatory, and dismissive. Instead of receiving clarification or guidance, I was made to feel singled out, judged, and extremely uncomfortable in what is supposed to be a judgment-free zone. The way she spoke to me was unacceptable for customer service of any kind, let alone a fitness facility that promotes inclusivity and a welcoming environment. I regret that I did not catch her name, but from previous reviews starting to think it was Maria. Her behavior telling me to “just go in, go in” to the tanning bed in a pushy and disrespectful manner ultimately caused me to leave the facility feeling disrespected and mistreated. I am bringing this matter to your attention because it reflects very poorly on the standards Planet Fitness claims to uphold. Unless this is addressed and corrected, I will be strongly reconsidering my membership, as I do not feel comfortable or welcomed returning to this location under the current circumstances.
