The staff are very caring. Going to therapy can admittedly be a little worrisome, like there's something wrong with me, but I never felt that way talking to the people here. I felt like I was doing the right thing for myself and more importantly, my wife and kids. Very much appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions About Enlighten Counseling Center
How do I schedule an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, you can either call our office directly or complete an appointment request form on our website. Our staff will then assist you in finding a suitable time for your session.
What should I expect at my first session?
During your first session, you can expect a welcoming and confidential environment. Your therapist will gather information about your concerns, history, and goals for therapy. This initial meeting helps establish a foundation for your therapeutic journey and allows you to ask any questions you may have.
How long are Enlighten Counseling Center's sessions and how many do I need?
Our standard sessions typically last 53–60 minutes. The number of sessions you may need will depend on your individual circumstances and goals. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
How often should I come to Enlighten Counseling Center?
The frequency of your visits to Enlighten Counseling Center will be determined based on your specific needs and treatment plan. Initially, weekly sessions are common, but this may adjust as you progress. Your therapist will discuss and recommend the most beneficial schedule for your situation.
What issues can individual therapy help me address?
Individual therapy can assist with a broad range of personal, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Common areas addressed include anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, trauma and PTSD, as well as grief and loss. Therapy can help you navigate general worry, panic attacks, social anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation, work or family pressures, past painful experiences, and significant life changes.
Can couples therapy help if only one partner wants to attend?
Couples counseling involves the participation of both partners. If only one partner is willing to attend, we offer individual therapy to provide support, insight, and strategies for personal growth.
Do all family members need to attend every session?
It is not necessary for all family members to attend every session in family therapy. The attendance may vary depending on the specific goals of each session. Your therapist may invite different combinations of family members based on the issue being addressed, who is most affected, who contributes to the dynamic being discussed, and who needs support at that time.
What issues can family therapy address?
Family therapy is designed to address a wide range of challenges that affect the entire family system. It can be particularly effective in improving communication, reducing conflict, and assisting families in navigating difficult transitions or stressors. The therapy focuses on resolving issues that impact multiple family members rather than just one individual.
What are the benefits of individual therapy?
Individual therapy offers numerous benefits, including improved self-awareness, enhanced coping skills, and better emotional regulation. It provides a safe space to explore personal challenges, develop healthier thought patterns, and work towards personal growth. Therapy can also help in managing stress, improving relationships, and increasing overall life satisfaction.
What is EMDR therapy, and how can it help me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that helps the brain process and resolve traumatic memories. Through the use of bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sounds, EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences and support the healing process.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy focuses on understanding the different “parts” of yourself that influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By exploring these parts in a supportive environment, IFS helps promote greater self-awareness, emotional healing, and healthier ways of coping.
Will my insurance cover therapy sessions?
Insurance coverage varies depending on your specific plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your mental health benefits. Our office can assist by providing documentation, submitting claims when applicable, or offering superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
How will I know how much my sessions will cost?
The cost of your sessions depends on factors such as your insurance plan, copay, deductible, and whether you have out-of-network benefits. Our office can help review your insurance information and provide an estimate of your expected session cost.
Can I pay for sessions if I don’t use insurance?
Yes. If you prefer not to use insurance, you may pay directly for your sessions through our secure online portal using a credit or debit card. We can also provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network benefits.
