i have been sitting on this and feel like i should put the experience out that i just had.
the lenses are significantly more expensive this time around because i am a sucker and definitely got upsold, which is okay. i now i have the equivalent of heated tires and talking seatbelts for a car, but the frames are great.
however, out of all of the upgrades i get, i do not thin my lenses immediately because 500 dollar glasses
i get the thinner lenses later, again, no probl- 400 DOLLARS BRO. okay, well, it has now crossed the threshold of a problem. my already 500 dollar pair of glasses, has now just went up and extra 400 dollars.
now, to the person reading this, if i can put this in perspective, my glasses are not nearly 1000 dollars. that is insane, my eyes are bad, but i am not a dinosaur and i do not have this type of money to throw around. if i remember last time i got my glasses, they were around 600ish, and i still got a lot of nice things for them. the lady who sold me the pair for 600 was the perfect sales person. the person who sold me the pair for 900 dollars left a lot to be desired.
i have to preface this, the insurance i use is the same as my grandma. so my grandma hears about a 900 dollar pair of glasses and raises a stink, and i will not lie, things apparently got pretty passive aggressive, because after i return from work, my grandma explains the conversation to me and basically just says, "she was very pushy, she ignored what i was saying and said that the insurance was applied, i did not like the woman on the phone"
i get in yesterday to pick up my glasses, the lady giving the glasses immediately jumps into a defense where she basically pulls out my prescription, my grandmas prescription (major HIPAA violation btw) and begins to compare them to show why my glasses cost this much more, and blah blah blah, i will not lie, i was not there to argue, or to talk.
at this point, i am pretty over it. i have been waiting close to 5 weeks at this point to have the final, and if i could repeat, 900 dollar pair of glasses on my face. i just want my glasses, and to be entirely honest, i am not liking the lady that has been dealing with my glasses. the other ladies seem cool, but i did not interact with them.
so the lady goes through the whole spiel whilst being incredibly passive aggressive to me and my uncle. now i will say my grandma probably gave her the business, and i can understand if she was not feeling particularly warm towards me. however, i will say the "customer service experience" is beyond shakey. a man with parkinson's with low blood sugar on a windy bridge between two mountains while it is cold and windy kinda shakey.
so i get it, and now, finally, at this point, her message has been made clear, "the insurance went through, you just bought a buncha stuff for your glasses, haha lol. if you did not want 900 dollar pair of glasses, why did you get a 900 dollar pair of glasses? lol haha" is generally how it feels, and i have been upsold like a sucker.
"let us print this receipt and get you out the door- huh, wait, i do owe you money. i only took off 20% from your insurance rather than 30%, i owe you 50 bucks"
BRUH
lol no
so she runs the whole song and dance, all explaining how my glasses are expensive because they have all the bells and whistles, to THEN realize she was actually wrong?
i will say i am skeptical about her not previously knowing she mischarged me, because please god tell me one time you have handed a receipt to a customer, and MEANINGFULLY REVIEWED THE RECEIPT BEFORE GIVING TO THE CUSTOMER. the person who genuinely does this may just be the best employee ever, this is not the best employee, and from what i understand, she is actually the manager
even if she did not know, and it was an honest mistake, with the stink that my grandma seems to have made about this already, do you not think she, as the manager would have already reviewed the receipt?
TL;DR
bought 900 dollar glasses
the lady who upsold and upcharged me argued she was right about price
she was not.
