- AAAlexOct 27, 20252.0While overall I find this office very pleasant, easy to make an appointment at etc I do feel that their business practices are somewhat less than savory. Every time I come to this office I am pushed to get retinal imaging, which costs me about $40. This year I tried to decline retinal imaging and was told it would be free with my insurance so I may as well have the exam. I felt pressured to receive the service as I do every year. Turns out it was not free it cost me $40 dollars once again. Retinal imaging is not even recommended by the American academy of ophthalmology. Dilated exams are only recommended every 5-10 years for my age group, but this office tries to push these exams at every visit, presumably for billing purposes. My wife also had an appointment here and was also pushed to have retinal imaging even though she had just had it at her ophthalmologist office a few months ago, of which she informed the optometrist. Unsurprisingly she was also billed for the exam, and in fact was told by office staff that they “could not bill” without retinal imaging. Anyway, I really don’t think that I should have to look up guidelines for myself and feel pressured into getting expensive and unnecessary tests while trying to get a contact or eyeglass prescription. I have lost trust in this office. It’s a fine place but beware you will get pressured into the retinal imaging and made to feel quite awkward if you attempt to refuse.

Dr. Mendoza answered all of my questions and made the process easy to understand. Then picking out glasses, Erin was helpful and patient while I asked questions about different lenses types and walked me through how each choice effected the price so I can make an informed decision on what would work best for me. Great experience with great staff members!
