I have noticed I have been with this pharmacy for many years. I have noticed a significant drop in the customer service. It’s mostly from the pharmacy Technicians!

This might be long but I want to make sure my review highlights how the world of retail pharmacy works and how Hyde Park Kroger stands out from its competitors. I want to start this review off with the fact that I understand how busy, hectic, and frustrating it must be to work in a retail pharmacy. In my 3 or so years of experience with Kroger’s retail pharmacy, I’ve observed a dedicated team working tirelessly to serve their customers. The challenges of being overworked and understaffed (factors beyond their control) and dealing with the public, often translate into extended wait times and occasional misunderstandings. It’s evident that the employees are doing their best with the resources available. Expressing empathy towards the staff during these challenging times has been my approach, understanding that their workload may lead to longer wait times or minor hiccups. Responding to any situation with patience, kindness, and understanding not only makes their job easier but also fosters a more positive atmosphere. Drawing from my own experience with chronic illness and filling around 20 prescriptions per month for the past eight years (at basically every retail pharmacy that exists in several states), I can empathize deeply with the frustrations that come with this process. As a customer, it often feels like we become the middleman between the doctor, insurance company, and the pharmacy. The need to make phone calls to all parties just to get a prescription filled can be incredibly time consuming and stressful. It's important to recognize that the system itself poses significant challenges, and the employees, likely working for a probable low and unfair wage, are doing their best within these constraints. The complexities of coordinating information between different entities in the prescription process can be overwhelming, and I believe there is more to be done that is outside of the scope of the employees working in the retail pharmacy. If these systemic issues are ever resolved I believe it would greatly improve the overall experience for both customers and hardworking pharmacy staff at Kroger and all pharmacies for that matter. I’ll end with this, if you have read this far thank you, lol. I have experienced the worst of the worst pharmacies. I have cried, I have been yelled at, I have been scammed, and when I go to Kroger I never have to worry about that happening. I know the employees will be considerate and will do whatever needs to be done on their end to get the prescription filled. There may be hiccups along the way but that is the case with every prescription at every pharmacy and it’s just something is second nature with filling prescriptions. But I appreciate the staff at Kroger always being willing to help and being friendly and kind while doing so.
