I came to this studio when it first opened, and while I was personally treated fine, I noticed that the two male instructors were extremely rude to people in class who didn’t know exactly what to do. I attended two classes where this happened, which ultimately made me want to cancel my membership. I felt the environment wasn’t a great place to work out in, and I didn’t look forward to taking classes—which were already difficult to book. Fast forward to now: I’m a member on ClassPass, and this Club Pilates location is the only one available on the app, so I figured I would give it another try since it’s been a few years since my last experience. I took classes with Hannah and Michael, and they were amazing—both so kind and made classes enjoyable, comfortable, and overall a great experience. I booked a Cardio Sculpt class today through ClassPass. I’ll admit I hadn’t taken this type of class before, but I’m young and in shape, so I didn’t see why it would be a problem to try it out. Before class started, the instructor, Luciana, came over to me and asked in front of the entire class if I had ever taken the class before. I said no. She then asked if I thought I could do it, and I said yes, to which she responded that I shouldn’t have been allowed to book and that, as an instructor, she would not have permitted me to take the class. She made me feel so uncomfortable that I felt I had to leave. I’ve taken several Pilates classes at other studios and have never had a negative experience. As an instructor, aren’t you supposed to teach proper positions, techniques, and form? This is the only studio I’ve been to where the instructors act as if they’re too good for you. Every other studio I’ve visited has been welcoming and willing to help correct or guide you when needed. I could understand if I was being a disruption to class, but we didn’t even start yet and I can’t imagine there was going to be anything I couldn’t follow along with.
