  I was seen by Dr. Chulpayev after my rheumatologist had to personally intervene to get me in sooner, since the neurology office wasn’t taking my symptoms seriously. Unfortunately, the appointment itself was no better—I felt completely dismissed. Dr. Chulpayev claimed that TIAs don’t cause lingering symptoms, which is not accurate. Ongoing issues like numbness and weakness are well documented even when imaging is clear. Instead of listening or taking my concerns seriously, I was met with condescension and assumptions. It was invalidating and disappointing, especially when I went in hoping for answers and support. I’ll be getting a second opinion. Patients deserve to be heard and taken seriously—especially when facing unexplained or frightening neurological symptoms.
