The his place is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to customer service. I have called over 27 times just to speak to someone. They never call you back. They could not get my prescription right. I even spoke to the office manager Delighllah this past Friday April 24h. She said she would call me back in 15 minutes. It’s now Tuesday and still have not heard back from here. It’s unfortunate because I actually like Dr. Jennings but he has lost a patient and I have informed my company to avoid using this establishment. Chris K.
I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking a new primary care office. While the doctor I saw was pleasant enough if abrupt, I had abysmal experiences every time I dealt with administrative staff. This started the very day I was supposed to go in for the first time when I got a surly phone call at 7:30am saying the doctor I had scheduled with wasn't coming in, and did I want to see someone else. I hesitated momentarily to consider, which seemed to frustrate the person on the phone before ultimately agreeing to see a different provider that day.
I don't know if being rude is one of the hiring qualifications here, but I did not appreciate being stared at blankly, sighed at impatiently, or treated like an inconvenience by the folks working behind the desks. Even the nursing/PA staff who took vitals were cold, dismissive, and more interested in a fast exit from the exam room so they could chitchat with each other (which I could clearly hear through the thin walls/sliding doors), than in attending to a patient.
I try to be a low-maintenance patient since I know everyone who works in the medical field is under enormous pressure, but every single person I've encountered in this practice aside from perhaps the doctor needs to work on their bedside manner, or just general human-to-human interaction. I understand the American medical system treats patients like cattle to be farmed out, but I haven't been to a medical practice that feels so totally disinterested in patients until MOM. Even their online patient portal doesn't allow messages sent from patients to providers, at least that I can find. The motto of this practice seems to be "We Don't Want to Hear From You".
The exception to the office's disinterest in patients would be in prescribing expensive, largely unnecessary tests and making referrals to other physicians in the MOM network. The prices of the tests I took were not disclosed to me despite my asking before I consented. I was told "the billing guy left for the day" when I asked how much these tests would cost. Even though I'm in good health, I agreed to the tests assuming the doctor would not have recommended them for no reason. I only found out how much they cost after I got bills for well over a thousand dollars worth of tests, all of which showed nothing noteworthy. An expensive way to find that out.
Scammy. Stay away.
I have been a patient at Medical Offices of Manhattan of Dr. Kini and her PA Lynn Zhang for the last 2.5 years and recently had an experience that I feel compelled to share publicly so others can make an informed decision.
I needed a refill for my Lexapro (an SSRI antidepressant). My pharmacy, CVS, attempted to contact the office for weeks with no response. I then reached out directly via email on April 15th. After two follow-up emails over several days, someone finally responded, confirmed my pharmacy location (which was wrong and i had to correct them and refer them to the email prior - they they ignored - with the address I provided), and offered me an appointment on April 22nd. I selected a time. That was the last I heard from them.
No prescription was sent. No appointment was booked. I called the office and left multiple voicemails. No one called back. I contacted the nurse hotline — the nurse was sympathetic but could not authorize a prescription, and the note he sent to the PA went unanswered.
I ran out of my medication entirely and went into SSRI withdrawal. For anyone who has experienced this, you know how serious it is — I had significant physical and psychological symptoms, including anxiety attacks - even had one with the nurse as i was explaining i was entering into withdrawal. He did not even ask if i was OK.
I ultimately had to seek emergency care through a third-party telehealth service, which got me my medication the same day. My own doctor's office could not manage to respond to a simple refill request in over three weeks.
I understand offices get busy. What I cannot understand is confirming an appointment with a patient, going silent, and leaving someone in withdrawal with zero follow-up or communication. That is not a scheduling failure — it is a patient safety failure.
I would not recommend this practice to anyone managing ongoing mental health medications who needs reliable, responsive care.
*** update - a week later i still have yet to receive any communication or apologly from the doctor or explanation on why this happened.
I would like to start by saying I have been a patient at MOM for a little over a year and I have been very satisfied with Whitney Hoyt, NP (when she was there) and Dr Pratima Dibba for a Colonoscopy, and the other doctors I have seen during my time as a patient. However, my follow up appointment with Dr. Michael Dosik left me feeling unheard and my concerns regarding my health dismissed. Prior to the appointment I asked for Dr. Dosik to call me because I had received my blood results on Wednesday and they were very alarming. Normally with levels this low, you would receive an emergency call. I received nothing despite leaving two messages with the on-call nurse. I was told a note was left on my file but it was not there until the next morning and the nurse on call was able to confirm that information. My levels were so low I should have been receiving an iron transfusion IMMEDIATELY!! Last year when my levels were that low I received an immediate call from NP Hoyt advising me on next steps.
The very first visit with him I requested a B12 shot, Vit D, and a few referrals for specialists and I felt I had to defend my reasoning as to why they were needed. From his facial expressions to his tone, I left questioning myself and if advocating for what I needed was too much to ask for. His initial responses left me uneasy but I tried to consider his perspective as he initially stated he wanted to see my blood work. I was okay with that but was adamant about my needs. However, my second visit, confirmed my initial concerns - I am severely anemic and my test results show I am pretty much deficient or shows I have the lowest adequacy in a majority of my blood work. When I asked Dr. Dosik for a higher dose of Vitamin D, which I initially asked at my first visit, he was still resistant. We went through this back and forth until he finally relented. The same when it came to my B12 levels and he refused to give me the shot which I had last year and my levels were about the same. His response, "It won't do you any good and I don't give shots for patients in normal range" (The normal range is 300, I was at 311 (again, borderline!!!!) The problem is that my "normal" range is not sufficient because I'm anemic, have fibroids, and I'm telling you I'm operating at a lower than efficient level for a long time with heart palpitations (which I mentioned last visit), and a B12 shot helped significantly last year.
His suggestion is to give me a prescription but when I get to the pharmacy they don't have a prescription. I don't know why writing a B12 prescription or giving me a shot bothered Dr. Dosik so much. At the end of the visit I left with no real next steps and a complicated back and forth to schedule an appointment with an in-patient infusion center. I needed a referral for an in-patient infusion center (I called a center after I left) and he failed to let me know. Thank you for Joeven A. who swiftly handled my concerns for the Mt. Sinai center so I can receive an iron infusion immediately!!! For a doctor who knew my situation was dire, he did not act with urgency and the care that I would expect from a doctor who actually cares about their patients!! I will be making it a point to have Dr. Dosik removed as my PCP effective immediately!!
I had a really really bad experience unfortunately and I would be wary about any larger procedure there because they are a little shady :/ I went to the office on middle town for a routine physical and they pulled out an EKG machine, told me I had a heart problem and that I needed more tests and to schedule a follow up with their cardiologist. Obviously that freaked me out so I consented to having another test, they kept me there for over an hour waiting for an Echocardiogram, which I did. Then I left the office and they called me 15 minutes later to tell me it was a false alarm and I had no reason to worry?
After this experience, I called a few doctor friends to see if this was something I needed to worry about or if it was a scam and all of them looked at the EKG test and said that for someone my age and with my clear bill of health they would not have ordered an echocardiogram looking at the test results or recommended a cardio Apt. Of course, MOM stuck me with a huge bill for these unnecessary tests and I left a google review explaining what had happened.
They never send the results of the tests. Overall just a waste of time, money, and sanity after all I needed was a physical. I never even went back to do the lab blood tests I was so annoyed! I would be wary of their google reviews because it’s clear they are manipulating them.
TBH the best experiences I’ve had with doctors are in the larger hospital systems like Mount Sinai or Weill Cornell. It’s hard out there to find a normal, reputable office in Manhattan! Good luck!
