I have not met Dr. Araten, but my experience with the office was extremely frustrating. I received a $300 hospital charge estimate for a routine doctor visit, and no one could confirm if it was correct. The office does not use MyChart for appointments, and calling to cancel or move an appointment was a nightmare—automated menus, long holds, transfers, and unhelpful staff.
To make matters worse, the receptionist hung up on me twice when I needed to cancel. As someone with work, responsibilities, and chronic health conditions, this was exhausting and unacceptable. Basic transparency and common courtesy are sorely lacking.

Awful receptionists. No urgency. It's normal here to come at 10am, and then wait til 2pm. They'll see a very weak, frail patient waiting for hours and hours and look the other way. No food or even an apology given. The docs are okay at best but burnt out and stretched thin from seeing way too many patients. Go somewhere else where you can get specialized care and treated properly. Coming here with stage 4 cancer is a death sentence unless you have unlimited patience to wait around to die.

I am a 22years breast cancer survivor,This is how long I have been your patient.Recently I had two outstanding experiences at 221 Lexington location.First I had a biopsy on 15Sep.My compliments to the following,,,Dr.James who performed the biopsy,Dr.Patel advisor,nurse-I believe her name is Maria, the sonogram technician ,I don't know the name and the mammo technician-I believe her name is Elizabeth. These profesionalls were way and above professionals, caring and they didn't know what to do to make me comfortable.I was greatly appreciate it.
My second experience was actually today on the phone with one of the ladies to make appointments for follow up mammo and sonogram. This lady,ARCILIA was patient, professional and a pleasant person to deal with,She accommodated all my requests.I am really impressed by such professionalism, pleasantness and positive response. When these days everything is a problem,it was very welcome.Way to go NYU.
