Extremely rude and unhelpful front desk staff. Always have a tone when you ask a question and have to call multiple times to get anything from the office.

Waited an hour and a half to be taken back
Update: it’s been weeks of calling and messaging and I’ve gotten nothing back from this office. To have the doctor fear monger me and tell me it’s critical to my health to see this specialist and then become completely unavailable to give me a referral should be medical malpractice. Genuinely some the worst doctor/front office staff I’ve dealt with.
Always a long wait, front office staff are nasty and lazy (one time had to wait to check out because one of the ladies was trying to book concert tickets!). It’s impossible to get anyone to answer when you call, no one returns voicemail messages. Even when you have test results you cannot get a nurse or doctor to call you to explain. I got a referral to see a specialized doctor and was told repeatedly that I *needed* to see this doctor for my health and don’t need a referral… call that referral doctor and am told “no we don’t see patients without a referral.” So I try calling, messaging, etc this office to get a formal referral and no response.
Positive: I’ve had two nurses who were just lovely in person.
Would absolutely not recommend anyone come here still.
Great doctors and the staff is amazingly friendly. They were able to help me with the new my chart system and it’s very easy to navigate.
Dr Rutenberg is wonderful, but the front office is a mess. If you value your time or basic courtesy, look elsewhere. The wait times have always been awful but I overlooked it because I do like the doctor. However, I’ve had enough.
Appointment #1: Canceled because the doctor was running 30 min late.
Appointment #2: Canceled again, followed by a rude call scolding me for not checking voicemail (even though it was their scheduling error).
Appointment #3: I arrived 15 minutes late, and the front desk guy, who acted like I was personally ruining his day, told me they’d have to reschedule yet again. And kept repeating loudly how I was late.
After multiple scheduling problems that weren’t my fault, the attitude from the front office was the last straw. There are plenty of offices in NYC who actually have their act together and don’t punish patients for their own disorganization.
