The Lenscrafters on 55th and 2nd in Manhattan has for 5 years been perfect with my prescriptions, easy to work with, friendliest and most helpful staff, clean store, easy eye exams and great selection of glasses. Always works to ensure I get the best value for my money also. Highly recomment.

From the moment I walked into this Lens Crafters I was met with smiles from all the staff. Wow. Such a pleasant experience! I'd been to four other optometrists that day and was looking for glasses without success and with very mediocre experiences. Tatyanna was amazing! She helped me the entire time I was there. Helped me look at all of the frames, which was a fantastic selection compared to the other places I'd been. Gave me great feedback. I just had a really lovely time here. I'm blown away by the fantastic service and friendliness by all of the staff including Eileen, the manager who was lovely. So glad I found this place. A breath of fresh air.

Visit for the eye exam but then scram! Though a different optometrist on each visit over years, each has been pleasant and professional.
Though I've given this Lens Crafters store too many tries, the customer service is unacceptable. Last year I had lens replaced here in an older, metal frame that I had bought elsewhere over a decade earlier. No problem. They replaced the lens. A couple of months later with the frame a bit twisted, I dropped in to ask for a little frame adjustment. "No" was the response with direction to return to where I had originally bought the frame. What?! after the shop had just replaced the lens for $900+?
Now just after my exam there this year, I requested lens replacement in another pair of older frames. I got the "no" response from the staff, with the excuse that the frames were "too small", though the frames are larger than last year's that they did replace. See pic. (Last year on left, this year on right.) What?!
Finally, I had learned my lesson. Walked one block south where I received excellent service at a competitor with lens replaced in the frames that this Lens Crafters' employee stated were too small. False.

I want to give a MAJOR shoutout to Eileen Fernandez, store manager at the store located at 1042 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10022. She went above and beyond to help me. Very diligent, smart, clever, and beyond helpful with a warmth and caring manner. I haven’t always had this wonderful treatment at 5his store and she saved me as a customer just when I was going to go elsewhere. You need more people like her!
Frequently Asked Questions About LensCrafters Optique
How do I know if my child needs glasses?
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
