Editing my review. I was notified that someone had been checked into the ER under my medical profile, despite the fact that I was home safe and had never gone to the hospital. Naturally, I called immediately to address what appears to be a serious error involving my medical record. Instead of receiving clear assistance, I was dismissed during the call and then mysteriously logged out of my health portal. Over an hour later, I was still unable to access my account, leaving the situation unresolved. David (Operator): Shockingly unhelpful. Rather than taking the situation seriously or attempting to direct the issue appropriately, the interaction felt dismissive and indifferent. For something involving a patient’s medical profile, that level of apathy is alarming. If calls are recorded, I sincerely hope management reviews them and shares them. Perhaps this isn’t the field for you, David. Jordan (ER): Thank you for at least making an effort to assist. I appreciate that you tried to help within the limits of what you could do. Lolly (ER): The only reason this review is not a zero. Lolly was kind, attentive, and communicated with genuine care. Something that stood in stark contrast to the rest of my experience. She is exactly the type of person patients hope to encounter in a healthcare setting, and the rest of the staff could learn a great deal from her professionalism. Northwell should take situations like this seriously, both the medical record issue itself and the vastly different levels of professionalism demonstrated by the people representing the organization.

I recently delivered my baby at Lenox Hill Hospital and overall had a positive experience, with a few areas that could definitely be improved. The biggest highlight was the staff. The anesthesiologists were fantastic — they took time to explain the epidural, answered all my questions, and had excellent bedside manner. My delivery nurse was absolutely amazing and made the entire experience feel calm and supported. Some things the hospital does really well: • You can have two support people plus a doula • The Northwell app lets you see medications, notes, and diagnoses in real time • You can wear your own clothes during delivery • Nitrous oxide is available as a pain option (though it’s still fairly new) • The discharge education was excellent due specifically to Erin— they even helped ensure our car seat was safely installed • The nursery was helpful when we needed rest and is fist come first serve • Bella Photography took beautiful newborn photos in your recovery room and allowed you to bring props • There’s a comfortable family room for visitors The birth registration office was super helpful, they didn’t put any pressure on us because we were still deciding the name, we really appreciated that. However, there were also some challenges: • Triage felt outdated and the changing area lacked privacy and seating • Delivery and recovery rooms are quite small with limited seating, having folding chairs • The postpartum unit sometimes ran out of basic supplies (linens, blankets, disposable underwear, no shower chair) • There were several instances where I requested medication or supplies and waited hours to receive it • Breastfeeding support felt discouraging rather than supportive • I was not offered a breast pump when told I wasn’t producing enough milk only told you use formula • Food ordering required calling a number and sometimes waiting on hold (would be much easier through the app); the food was actually pretty good. The patient transport elevator does not work properly, it took a really long time to move between floors and when discharged it took a very long time. Overall, the clinical staff and delivery team were wonderful and made a huge difference in the experience. The nursing staff was hit or miss. With a few operational improvements — particularly around supplies, postpartum support, and responsiveness — this could easily be an even better experience for new families. Tip of things to bring: 1. Compression socks for swelling 2. A donut pillow if you want to sit anywhere other than the bed 3. Sleeping bag for your support person 4. Adult diapers to go home if you have a long drive 5. Photo props for the photographer (makeup)

This is a terrible hospital; the tragedy was sealed the moment I walked in. The doctors weren't as professional as I'd imagined. Can an apology really solve everything? Stay away from this hospital.

Gave birth in Feb 2020, before pandemic. It was absolutely dreadful. If my doctor wasn’t practicing in that hospital I would not step one foot in there. They had not enough rooms and after I gave birth they stuck me on pediatric floor in a room meant for single occupancy which they divided to accommodate 2 people. My “part” was literally enough to fit my bed and that it, no TV, no window, small cramped area. We requested a private room for extra charge, it took them 24 hours to “clean”’it and to relocate me. When I got there I realized nothing was cleaned. There was old shampoo bottles from previous patient in the bathroom, spoiled, spilled milk in the fridge, dust and dirt everywhere. Absolutely shocking. I complained and they didn’t charge us, but that hospital is an absolute joke. Also nurses refused to sign witness form for paternity that was necessary. They all literally did 180 and walked away, without that form we could not get a birth certificate. Avoid that dump by all means.

I had my open myomectomy done at lenox hill and I have only praises for the entire care team. Coming in first is my excellent obgyn, Dr Mio Sawai who performed the operation. She was able to diagnose and plan the surgery as soon as possible and did not delay anything. The entire nursing team at Lenox hill is simply the best. Arden, Dianna, Tara, Lydia, Maureen all the nurses took such great care and were so kind and helpful. It did not matter what the time was or how small the request was they were just always there to help and guide. Special shoutout to Arden who seemed more like a friend by the end of her shift. She walked with me the entire duration and encouraged me along with medical shows talk. I could not have asked for anyone better.
