  AVOID AT ALL COSTS. $4k for a glucose monitor and 2 antacids and the audacity to kick someone out after scolding them immediately after they become conscious clearly because the patient doesn't have insurance(Dr. Max Lazarus will be reported to the New York State medical board). Can't recommend that you avoid this place enough. You're better off contacting a witch doctor for actual lifesaving care and you'll definitely pay less. They closed ethics claims without so much as an email or phone call response and should not be trusted with anyone's life based on their treatment in what I witnessed.

  I’ve been here twice in the past year and I am shocked by the kindness of the staff each time. The doctors & nurses are efficient and great at what they do. Specifically, Dr. Chris Davlantes and Nurse Jose were two of the nicest, funniest, and warm people that made each experience that much less scary/frightening. Really glad to live near this ER!

  IF IT’S AN EMERGENCY, DON’T COME HERE. When it became clear that my wife may need an ultrasound and emergency surgery, the doctors explained that this was a “stand alone emergency group” that was not attached to a hospital. So the would need to send us to a real ER up on the Upper East Side. Thankfully that ended up not being life or death for my wife, but one could imagine the dangers of advertising an emergency department that can’t deal with the real emergencies…

  The staff were kind, and took my son in quickly. But he had a chest xray as he very clearly had synptoms of pneumonia. They said his xray was clear. This morning, I received a call- almost 48 hours later saying they had misread xray-- and he does indeed have pneumonia! He has been in terrible pain, with high fever.. This would have been avoided with a competent

  Came in today, close to 10 am. The security guard asked why I was there. I stated I needed emergency care. What a question?!! A negative attitude followed. He was intrusive and hostile as he asked to check my bag. He was rude and intimidating. I told him so and instead of listening and easying up, he responded with additional attitude. In some points of check in with this security guard, his hostility was alarming, where I felt physically unsafe. Deciding to make the call of going to the emergency room is hard enough, being greeted with overbearing security guards is not necessary. Upon entering, the technician had a problem with the EKG machine. She appeared already flustered, frustrated by intake procedures. I made the call to refuse further examination. My primary care doctor was able to see me later today. This treatment by security is not uncommon here for me. It's happened before where I have walked out without being seen by the emergency room staff. The entrance on 13th street by security in that entrance has also been pushy and rude in checking bags. I do believe there could be a level of racial profiling. Either way, I will seek an alternative to emergency room options. I regret the billing to my insurance from this.
