WARNING — PREDATORY. GOOD SERVICE UNTIL YOU TRY TO CANCEL. RUDE MANAGER. HIGH INSTRUCTOR TURNOVER.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. I originally started coming here because I wanted to fix my posture after a pregnancy. Started great at first and even recommended Club Pilates to other moms. When I was pregnant with my second, I had to freeze my account during my third trimester for obvious reasons. Everything was smooth, no hiccups, and they were more than willing to help.
When I unfroze my account after my 2nd pregnancy, I found myself unable to attend the level 1.5 classes. They only had a 9:30am slot available Monday and Tuesday. I tried to make one of those classes after dropping off my child at school, but was denied entering class because I was late. I had no problems with their policy, but that meant I was stuck taking a level 1 class that wasn’t challenging enough for me.
I eventually realized that I wasn’t using the membership at all so I decided to cancel on October 25, 2025. They confirmed via email that I had to send in a cancellation form. What I thought was really weird was that I was able to see someone else’s name prefilled. I simply ignored it and replaced with my information and submitted.
I heard no confirmation from a manager as expressly stated in their email. A month later, I get charged and that was fine because I didn’t cancel 30 days before my submitted form. Another month goes by and to my surprise I get charged for December.
I assumed this was a mistake so I called the W 57th street studio directly and I was told they can see that I wasn’t supposed to get charged for December. I was told the manager was not in that day and that he will call me the following day. The next day goes by and I didn’t receive a call so I decided to email.
On December 3rd, Jesus Padilla (their general manager) initially responds by accusing me of not submitting their form. After a couple of exchanges, he tells me that he is working on my refund and I heard nothing again for three days.
On Saturday, December 6th, I initiated a chargeback with my bank. I’m assuming it worked because I received an email on December 11th that my bill is overdue and that they will SEND MY BILL TO THIRD PARTY COLLECTIONS.
I find it predatory how they never follow up with you when you want to cancel, but when you want to freeze your account, they are very responsive. When you want to cancel, they send you a form to fill out, but you never get a copy so that they can tell you when you get charged again that you never filled out the form.
Turns out this has happened to other members! One of my neighbors had the exact same thing happen to her and she had to demand a refund in person. She even dealt with the same manager!
Some other complaints:
- Their instructor turnover rate is so high, that I’ve had 3 different teachers for the same class in the span of 6 months.
- I’ve had classes where the quality of instructors vary significantly. I’ve had great instructors where I felt challenged to classes where I felt like I was stretching the whole time. Sound quality is also not consistent - I can barely hear because they’re talking too loud on the microphone or talking too softly.
- Manager is rude as hell. He isn’t professional at all. No customer service manners. At one point he says that I’m “entitled to your feeling and opinion.” The audacity.
- If you cancel, make sure you screenshot your form because they don’t follow up and don’t send you a copy. Clearly it doesn’t automatically post to your account like their email says it will.
- They retroactively added a late fee to the payment I already paid because I did a chargeback. Now I owe $211.16 vs the $166.16.
The monthly $166.16 wasn’t going to break my bank. If they approached me with a different attitude, perhaps I would’ve accepted a technical blunder on their end before canceling for good. Instead the manager handled this whole situation poorly and out of principle, I can’t pay this.
Let this be a warning to anyone who is trying to join. Don’t. Save yourself the headache.

Club Pilates at 57 St provides an unparalleled fitness experience at an amazing value. The instructors are attentive, caring, and know how to challenge their students. Jesus and the other front desk staff are also very flexible and clearly care about what they do. There is a workout there for everyone and if you go consistently, you will see results. Special shout out to Jenny and Caroline who go above and beyond!
