I'm generally quite happy with the quality of the strength and cardio equipment, locker room, and access to specialty barbells and indoor track. I have however ran into a few frustrations that prevent me from giving five stars:
1. Operating hours are less than other gyms in the area. I routinely work out closer to closing time and have noticed long waits at the showers during this time. It's clear to me that there's enough demand to stay open till 11 PM on weekdays and 9-10 PM on weekends, which would also be consistent with other gyms.
2. Three of the weightlifting platforms past the sand volleyball court have significant low spots at the rubber, which are well past their useful life. I'm regularly moving a trap bar to the other platforms and have seen other members also avoid these platforms.
3. I sometimes find equipment such as plates, dumbbells, barbell collars, and cable attachments either not put away or in the wrong place. Just today I saw someone leave their sweat towel and dumbbells next to a bench after finishing their work there, and someone else moving a bench to the other side of the gym to cable machines without returning it where it belongs. It'd be beneficial for staff to more frequently check that everything is in place, and better yet for the very select few members that aren't practicing good gym etiquette to do better.
4. Membership cancellation requires 45 days notice, which I find to be particularly restrictive and leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
All in all, CPF is quite an impressive facility but has room for improvement in the above areas. I would recommend to someone who would use some of the amenities that you can't find elsewhere and can conveniently get there.

They don’t clean the space well anymore. The locker rooms are nastier today. And strict policies against having your kids in the facility. So don’t join this gym if you have small kids, despite their babysitting services. Children of guests are not allowed in the kids club.
Management doesn't care about members or staff. As a result, customer experience is never a priority and it really shows, which is surprising for a gym with such a premium price.
They have increased rates a lot, it is equivalent to Equinox. Should just join Equinox or Lifetime, which has friendly babysitting services in some locations and more clubs around the city.

This is a great gym, but I realized for the cost of this one location you can get every single Equinox location in the city which is like 28 and entire US actually.
Chelsea Piers is getting a little crazy with what they think they’re worth. Stop paying it please so they snap out of it.
