- VPVanesa PJun 12, 20251.0Posting this review for both the Long Island and Bronx locations since they are both at fault. They have had our daughter's wheelchair for repair for the last YEAR. Today they were supposed to deliver said chair finally. The chair was to be delivered between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm and they are a no show. They canceled the delivery and didn't even have the decency to let me know. Now they are telling me that the next delivery date is July 10th, but given the history they are likely stringing me along. The delivery person was from the Bronx location, but the number to call was from the Long Island office. Instead of transferring me to the Bronx office after the LI agent blamed that office, the agent hung up the phone. Wish I got his name.

How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?

Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).

Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
