The Chelsea Piers Fitness club in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, exemplifies our established standard of excellence with ample space and triple-sized ceilings, modern design, extensive strength and cardio spaces, several group fitness studios, an oversized members lounge and co-working space, luxurious locker rooms, and an outdoor terrace.
The club also boasts four boutique-style studios, including an infrared studio for hot yoga and pilates classes, an expansive turf, cardio and strength areas, a Kids Clubhouse for babysitting, and a members-only social + co-working space. We are excited to offer over 100 fitness classes per week, specialty workshops, personal training, as well as a full calendar of member and community events.
My concern isn’t with the gym or its amenities but with the leadership and the overall member experience. Several weeks ago, I received a notification about a dues increase, which I immediately contested. It took about a week to get a response, and that response didn’t come from the general manager who sent the initial message. Instead, I received a follow-up from another representative who didn’t fully acknowledge or address the specific questions I raised.
What concerns me most is the apparent lack of value placed on members. There seems to be no real effort toward member retention or engagement. For example, despite my direct inquiry about the cost of a family add-on, I never received a clear answer. As a paying member, it feels as though my feedback and experience aren’t truly considered.
Because of this, I’ve decided to take my membership and business elsewhere. Members should feel prioritized, heard, and valued… not dismissed or overlooked.

I’m a current member of the gym and general like it, particularly in this location as there are no other high end gyms I can walk to. With that said, the music is constantly too loud. Nobody comes to the gym for music (besides there own) so I’m not sure why they do this. The other big draw for this location is the coworking space so you can hop on a meeting before of after your work out if needed, but that’s almost impossible with the music as loud as it is.
I’ve read other comments regarding crowdedness and I don’t find it to be that bad, but the squat racks can have a 5 min wait at peak. It’s about the same as any other NYC gym at rush hour.
