For a company that's supposed to provide assistance to individuals with mobility differences, they sure don't match up to the quality of service one would expect to be provided. I've been dealing with NSM for the last 5 years or so and every time there is a an issue with the wheelchair, it takes months to get a response and completion of repairs! In the past, you would have to wait 4 weeks to get an in-person inspection from the time of filing your initial complaint. Then it can take several months after that to get parts and an official repair. Then when you do get the part, the chair breaks down almost immediately again because by that time now a new issue has risen and you're right back into this cycle of calling and waiting!
Calling the Bronx branch is also another nightmare! No one calls you back after leaving a message- NO ONE! I'm currently waiting for someone from the branch to call me back from January! If you're lucky to get someone on the phone, state everything because it's a hopelessly futile mission to expect to reach someone again! The only glimmer of hope is Angel as stated by another reviewer! Angel tries his best to correct issues and helps tremendously even overextending himself but the truth of the matter is National Seating and Mobility offers poor customer service and drags their feet on making repairs and its often the vulnerable individuals that are made to suffer. If you have another choice for a vendor, bring your service elsewhere.

I've been a wheelchair user living in New York for almost 5 years and it's been so hard to find knowledgeable wheelchair technicians who actually care and take the time to make sure everything is safe and comfortable! I highly recommend national seating and mobility specifically Angel if you're lucky to have him. I've been using a wheelchair for almost 15 years and I learned so much with their patience and help, not to mention I no longer have back and shoulder pain! 10 out of 10

In every place there's helpful and unhelpful people. I would suggest your techs stop writing problems off like it's little issues. I would also suggest the tech that works on the chair stays that chair's tech because it would Bridge relationships. As for the front people, Jose listens very professional and willing to help, I'm sorry I forgot her name sits closest to the window, she good. Keep them. The tech I would highly recommend is Jesus. He will find what's wrong with your chair and not make it seem like you are crazy. Customer service is A+. Certain other techs had Me going back nsm like I live there.

The state need to pass the right to repair bill so that we who are disabled can take our power to place and get if fix without ever having to deal with NSM ever because they don’t care about only just lining their pockets, I am out of use of my power chair from last October 2025 after got a new sets of batteries 4 months prior. You could call all you want they never answered . We in the disability community need to be our own advocate and call our state representative and tell them to move ahead with the right to repair bill so we can get out this monopoly NSM who don’t have time to care for us because we are disabled. I email them and it bounce back .. iam tired of them .

I recently had my power wheelchair serviced at National Seating & Mobility in the Bronx, and I truly can’t say enough great things about the team—especially Angel. Angel has known me since I was five years old and has been such an important part of my life. Over the years, he has always gone above and beyond to make sure my equipment is working perfectly and that I’m comfortable and safe.
Angel isn’t just knowledgeable and professional—he’s compassionate, patient, and incredibly dependable. He takes the time to really listen, understand my needs, and explain everything clearly. I never feel rushed or overlooked. He treats me like family, not just a customer. His kindness and consistency over the years mean more to me than I can fully express.
What makes Angel stand out is how genuine he is. He truly cares about the people he serves and works with heart. You can see that this isn’t just a job for him—it’s a commitment to helping people live their lives with dignity and independence. I truly love and enjoy his company, and I’m so grateful to have someone like him supporting me. National Seating & Mobility in the Bronx is lucky to have Angel, and so am I.
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
