  I'm so incredibly disappointed with this office and Dr. Akel. I've been a patient of hers for at least 8 years or more and have been a patient at the office since I was a young child. I have always felt very well taken care there and by Dr Akel until the past year, specifically the past 6 months. They constantly are cancelling appointments on you, often unable to reschedule until months out, don't respond to messages, don't take concerns seriously at all. and don't check in despite serious health problems going on. There were even lab results waving a red flag that something was wrong and it was just completely ignored. Their oversight is bluntly put, dangerous. I switched to UHS Diabetes & Endocrinology when I finally had enough and felt like my health was at risk from Dr Akel and team's inaction and cancelling of apts. UHS got me in right away, took the issues at hand very seriously and it was very quickly discovered the issues that Dr Akel was brushing under the rug and ignoring was indeed type 1 diabetes. I was put on insulin and have been receiving incredible care with UHS ever since. I would recommend going anywhere else besides Gutherie Lourdes Endocrinology; UHS Endocrinology has been incredible.
