Absolutely disgusted and disgusting ER. My mother went in for a stroke. She was in the critical care unit of the ER. There were needle caps on the floor, along with other medical waste. The call button did not work either, which I had to wipe it down with a sanitizing cloth as it was filthy.
The nurses were an absolute disgrace. Only checked in on her once an hour.....in critical care! I had to go numerous times to the nurses station to get their assistance. They were rude, annoyed, and left the room immediately so they could go sit back down and talk and play on the computer.
If you requested something from a nurse, they would return 30-45 mins later, and sometimes didn't come back at all.
Once they stepped her down to the 'regular' ER, nothing changed as far as care or treatment.
However, she has now been transferred to a room and she said it's much better up there, but I disagree. She almost went into anaphylactic shock and asked for Benadryl. This was at 3am. She didnt get the Benadryl until 5pm.
Not as filthy, but enough I had to wipe everything down, and random equipment on the floor, in the chair, and in the window sill.
I don't know how Good Sam is, but I would definitely go there instead of here. I cannot express my hatred for The Northwell Corporation. They are a business, not a Healthcare operation. Even regular or specialist facilities, you are a number and not a patient. Forced to double booking Dr's allowing 7.5 mins per patient.

This hospital is a dump—the patient care is terrible.

My dad is in here because he broke his hip the other day. He can't really talk so I was worried I might not get much information. I drove up from Philadelphia and the woman who was tending to him was very nice, answered my questions and gave me a clear idea of his condition and prognosis. I was impressed with the job she was doing.

I’m leaving this 5-star review for all the nurses and doctors who showed us the utmost care and support during our baby’s delivery and NICU stay. We met many medical professionals throughout the process and each one treated us with kindness, professionalism, and a very high level of care. My wife and I are truly grateful for everything they did for our family during such an important time. The only downside was the valet parking situation, which can be a bit frustrating and adds some friction to the experience. Some attendants were great with positive attitudes, while others were not as pleasant. One of them came up to me and demanded my keys. They said I could not park there and that I would get a ticket if i didn’t hand over my keys. I understand if there is a system in place, but don’t make the attendants create friction with patients/visitors especially when we have a baby in NICU and running on few hours of sleep. Why does the patient/visitor have to pay the price for your disorganization. If it were solely the parking situation I’d give 2-3 stars. Just a thought. A million thank’s to all the nurses though,
we were very impressed and very grateful for them!

I want to recognize Spencer Rambert, an ER nurse at Southside Hospital, for the exceptional care he provided during my emergency room visit on March 10, 2026.
Spencer showed outstanding professionalism, compassion, and respect from the moment he began caring for me. He took the time to thoroughly check all of my injuries and made sure I felt heard and cared for throughout my visit. His bedside manner was truly exceptional, and he treated me with kindness and patience during a stressful time.
He also ensured that my tests and results were handled in a timely manner and kept me informed along the way. What stood out the most was that he genuinely cared and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and properly evaluated.
Nurses like Spencer make a huge difference in the patient experience. I am very grateful for the care he provided and believe he deserves recognition for the dedication and compassion he shows to his patients.
