I went to the Quest location on Alliante in North Las Vegas for a urine drug screen that my new employer gave me 72 hours to complete. The drug screen order was received by me on a Friday. I went to the location and checked in at 1:20 pm. The sign stated that if you were a walk-in, they would take appointments first. As a healthcare provider, I clearly understand that policy. I sat in that waiting room for 2 1/2 hours. After that, I approached a young lady at the door to ask if I would be seen, since my name had been at #1 for over 30 minutes. She went into the back and checked. When she came back out, she stated that drug screens were not performed after 2 pm. I informed her that I had been sitting there for over 2 hours. She went back inside for a few minutes, came back out, apologized, and stated that it states on the front door that drug screens are only performed from 9-2, and I should have made an appointment. I explained that I tried to make an appointment, but there were no appointments, which is why I walked in. I asked why no one checks arrivals to see why people are there, and why no one does waiting room management. Clearly, each time someone came to get a patient, an announcement could have been made that if anyone was there for a drug screen, they were no longer being performed. As a previous lab director, I know there is no hard stop for lab pick-ups in the area. Customer service at this location is not a priority, or service recovery and waiting room management could have been done. Clearly, in this environment of job losses, pre-employment physicals are a crucial matter, but there didn't seem to be an understanding of that by any employee there. Just poor service and attitude all the way around. To point me to a line in 14 font on the door stating that certain services were available at a particular time is dismissive. I went to an urgent care and had the urine test completed that evening. I wish I had started there instead. I will tell my employer to direct future employees there instead of directing them directly to Quest to avoid future aggravation and unprofessional encounters. Disappointing.
