- ESElise SawlerFeb 11, 20265.0I recently took a family member’s wheelchair in to be assessed and repaired to the burnside location. I called and left a message for Matthew, who promptly replied by both phone as well as email. Matthew was extremely helpful and went above and beyond . The manager, James, also came out to speak with me and was extremely helpful and accommodating. The chair was assessed fully and serviced within a very prompt time frame which was greatly appreciated.The service was prompt, thorough and friendly and overall, I was beyond pleased with the interaction in general. . . . The ladies at the front desk were also very helpful and pleasant.Thank you, to all involved.

They’ve taken their time with me no matter if I was purchasing a hospital bed or a spring knob. I actually thanked the manager for being such a hands on manager and the front desk for listening. National Seating is the first stop for all my safety and mobility needs!
- SSShannon SmithDec 3, 20255.0I had an accident 2 1/2 years ago and ended up with a spinal cord injury. Right from the start in occupational therapy I was fortunate to get Miles Filmore at NSM in Dartmouth NS as my vendor for equipment I needed. I was loaned many pieces of equipment to try, and to use until any ordered items come in. And if anything didn’t work out, he was always more than willing to always make adjustments/arrangements for something that did work. I have a lot of sit bone pain, and Myles has numerous ideas to try and was always willing to bring in many different cushions to sample. He tracked down and was able to source a specific piece of exercise equipment, and the guys from NSM were so efficient to get it into my basement and set it up. He was very knowledgeable of equipment and how to make adjustments on any equipment I received. He came to my house and measured up for a ramp, stairlift, my truck for seat lift and hand controls, etc. Each time those items were installed, the installers were very friendly, neat and did an overall good job. I also had the opportunity to deal with the manager James Chu, who was also very friendly and willing to help me with any of my needs. Whether I had a broken brake, caster bearings or new tires on my wheel chair, he was quick to say come on in. And he would actually take the time to do the tasks himself to get me mobile quickly. So, overall I have been 100% satisfied with my whole experience with NSM for helping me adjust to my new life. Shannon Smith
- OKOakley Forest (KhaosRattie)Apr 2, 20241.0Update: They finally fixed the walker years later and I decided to give them another chance and order some accessibility aids for the shower and a hospital bed. All the bathroom aids were highly unsafe (and the bidet wasn't even installed properly and leaked all over my floor) and I told them this and they ignored me and I ended up getting hurt. The extended toilet seat was way too small and slipped, and so did I, right off the toilet into the vanity. Thankfully my building removed the unsafe decices for me because NSM refused to. The hospital bed's breaks broke within one week and now theres a huge lump in the already extremely uncomfortable bed, and my back is killing me and this is worsening my disabilities. It took over two years to get Disability to cover this and theres no way they will cover it again. Thanks for completing screwing me over. Bought a 600 dollar walker that can't lock properly and apparently they cant do anything about it. Unsafe

How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
