- AAAmandaJun 17, 20251.0My mom is a chronic pain patient, as well as a cancer survivor. I went to pick up her pain medication at the pharmacy. I had previously been told that it was on order and would be ready for pickup, sometime this week. However, when I went to pickup, today, I was told that it was on a backorder, they didn't know when - or if - it would be back in stock. As someone who used to work in a pharmacy, I know that backorders can not be controlled, and that there is no estimate on when a shipment will come in. However, I'm rather appalled that the pharmacy didn't inform us sooner that the medication was on backorder. We could have had an alternative called in before it was due for pickup, versus her having to be without her medication. The lack of communication and lack of sympathy for their patients is shocking.
