I have suffered from back spasms periodically from an injury years ago, but never sort treatment until now. The A&A is excellent & I highly recommend it to anyone in need of Physical Therapy. The staff is very friendly & I never have to wait. The treatments & exercises helped relieve my worst pain right away. They taught me what was the real source of my back issues & have given me plenty of advice & recommended exercises to help avoid future issues. So happy I found this facility! Thank You!
Frequently Asked Questions About A & A Physical Therapy
What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injury or disease. It restores, maintains, and promotes overall fitness and health. Patients include accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, heart disease, and fractures.
How do I get started with physical therapy?
By New Jersey law, you can see a physical therapist without a prescription from your doctor. However, automobile accidents and worker’s compensation cases require a prescription. Please call our office if you have any questions about insurance coverage so we can assist you in getting timely care.
What should I wear to my appointment and how long should I plan on being at my appointment?
Comfortable clothing is key. Please allow up to an hour for most visits.
What does a physical therapist do?
Therapists examine patients’ medical histories and then test and measure patients’ strength, range of motion, balance and coordination, posture, muscle performance, respiration, and motor function. They also determine patients’ ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community or workplace after an injury or illness. Next, physical therapists develop treatment plans describing a treatment strategy, its purpose, and its anticipated outcome. Treatment often includes exercise for patients who have been immobilized and lack flexibility, strength, or endurance. Physical therapists encourage patients to use their muscles to increase their flexibility and range of motion before advancing to other exercises that improve strength, endurance, balance, and coordination. The goal is to improve how an individual functions at work and home.
