First off, we arrived for our appointment early and had to wait in line for 20-something minutes because everybody was having problems with the self-checkin kiosk. One employee kept coming out to tell people to use their finger pad instead of finger nail to use the kiosk, because it is an iPad and works in a "special" way. By the time we got up there, I confirmed that even the recommended technique failed 40% of the time. I typed a 10-digit phone number, and only 6 showed up. Had to retype so many character strings during checkin.
Worst of all, even though we were here 10 minutes early, by the time we got to checking-in, the system refused to acknowledge our appointment. After 12 minutes of screwing around trying to figure out what was going on and even asking the employee about it, who told us to just scan the barcode on our email (which didn't work), I found out that there is small type on the email saying you will be treated as a walk-in if you checkin and more than 10 minutes late. We ended up having to wait another 35 minutes for the new appointment time.
Once in, there was apparently still an issue with the NEW appointment. The employee had to come up to the kiosk to re-do the registration due to some nuance about the system.
There were numerous people that had issues besides us during our visit. One person made a walkin appt for a drug test, then was rejected before appointment time due to not taking appointments for drug tests after 2pm. You would think their system would know that and refuse the appointment??
Quest needs to do several things to fix their checkin issues:
-First, get more than one kiosk. Labcorp always has 2-3 kiosks.
-Second, get kiosks with screens that work properly. These iPads SUCK. The one kiosk has an inconsistent screen tap and is still going undiagnosed. I troubleshoot electronics all the time. I am an engineer. I know when a screen is not working properly.
-Lastly, keep a full-time staff member at the front desk to deal with checkin issues. We got here 1.5 hours before closure, but due to checkin issues, we still only got our appointment addressed just before they closed.
This was a terribly frustrating experience. I will avoid this location moving forward. The only reason we did Quest was because Labcorp didn't offer this specific test. Wish we didn't have to. Good luck to anyone coming here in the future.
