I want to share my experience as a parent advocating for my child’s health. Since my child was about seven months old, I have consistently raised concerns about ongoing symptoms, including frequent congestion, runny nose, and recurring ear infections. These concerns were often attributed to daycare exposure, with reassurance that it was normal. However, after more than two years of persistent issues, I felt that my concerns were not being fully addressed. It wasn’t until I began seeking second opinions and actively advocating for further evaluation that progress was finally made toward getting answers and appropriate care. As of my child’s most recent sick visit, I still feel that parents have to be persistent and proactive to ensure their concerns are taken seriously. I believe in working collaboratively with healthcare providers, but also in speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. I also want to add that my child recently had a sick visit with Dr. Kaighn. While she was kind and attentive during the appointment, the outcome once again concluded that it was “possibly just a common cold.” Given the ongoing nature of my child’s symptoms, I felt the need to take further initiative on my own. I contacted an ENT specialist to explore additional evaluation, including a sleep study, which is now in the process of being arranged. I’m sharing this to emphasize the importance of listening to parental concerns and taking ongoing symptoms seriously.

Dr. Kaighn is awesome. She is attentive, caring, and makes my child feel comfortable during visits. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always able to get my child in quickly when a sick appointment is needed. Overall, it is always a smooth and positive experience, and I truly appreciate the care and support from the entire office.
