My recent visit to the doctor's office was quite the experience, to say the least. I decided to give this practice a try because of all the positive reviews, but my time there turned out to be anything but positive. I have no idea how this office could possibly have 4 stars.
First off, the parking situation is a mess. There weren't enough spots for patients and staff, so finding a decent spot was like finding a needle in a haystack. I managed to get there about 10 minutes early, despite the chaos.
Once inside, I had to fill out some paperwork. The guy at the front desk was nice enough, but then the waiting game began. I waited for waaaay to long ——55 minutes— almost a hour, before I was finally called back.
Feeling a bit annoyed by then, I met with a woman who I assumed was either a nurse or a medical assistant. She didn't introduce herself, nor apologized for the wait, which was odd, and then proceeded to ask me questions that were already on the forms I filled out. After she left, another woman came in without introducing herself either and just asked, "What do you want us to do for you?" It was kind of off-putting, but I explained that I wanted to get checked for skin cancer due to my family history. She asked me to undress down to a gown, and commented to even take my hair out of its ponytail so I’d be “completely ready.”
Eventually, the doctor came in, accompanied by a medical student. They didn't bother introducing themselves either, nor did they ask if I was okay with the student being there (which quite frankly, you’re supposed to do. Esp since you’re exposed during these exams). The doctor entire
exam felt rushed, lasting only about 3-4 minutes (from when she came into the room to leaving), and that’s being generous. The doctor said I looked fine, gave me her cell number for some reason, and reminded me to wear sunscreen as she rushed out the door.
My head was spinning. I was pretty surprised when I checked my watch and realized I had only been in the room for 10 minutes. The entire process was so rushed and unprofessional on all accounts. The icing on the cake was that as I was changing back into my clothes, an employee opened the door without even knocking and walked in on me! I was beyond frustrated!
. I get that doctors are busy, but professionalism shouldn't take a backseat. They definitely need to step up their game.
