- SPShirin Pandey2 days ago1.0I had a terrible experience at Sterling Optical and will not be returning. The customer service was horrible from the moment we walked in. The woman attending to us had a clear attitude, and when I asked if they accepted VSP, she said yes without hesitation. After spending five minutes running our insurance, she suddenly quoted an out-of-network price instead. Why claim to be in-network with VSP when you’re not? She also needed the last four digits of my SSN to pull up my plan, which I completely understand. What I don’t understand is why she expected me to say it out loud in front of five other people who could clearly overhear. When I voiced that I wasn’t comfortable sharing something so personal publicly, she gave me a look as if it was unreasonable to want basic privacy. I was simply asking for a bit of discretion. To top it off, the prices of their frames are significantly higher than other optical stores like LensCrafters (without insurance) making the whole experience feel even more frustrating. Overall, extremely unprofessional, overpriced, and disappointing.
