I went to this Dr, a few years ago and thought that everyone in the building was truly nice and helpful. I decided recently to make an appointment to get my teeth cleaned and the receptionist told me since I had not been there in the last 12 months they could not accept my medicaid due to them not taking new meicaid patients. I asked her to check with the Dr. Since I was pregnant I was only going to need a cleaning and not any exrays. I never heard back from the office. After reviewing my medicaid plan I decided to call and make an appointment regardless because it didn't state any where that medicaid payed for dental, so either way I was going to have to pay out of pocket. The receptionist informed me that the cleaning would be $56, the exam would be $48, and this of course is without exrays. I thought it was pretty pricy $104 that is but, it's been a while since I've had my teeth cleaned so I am willing to pay it. I was then asked if I had insurance, and I explained to the receptionist that I have medicaid however, I was already told that they weren't taking new medicaid patients at this time and that my medicaid doesn't state that they cover dental anyways. I was asked to hold briefly, and when the receptionist got back on the line she told me due to the fact that I carry medicaid and they are not taking new medicaid patients they could not schedule me. I explained to the receptionist that medicaid does not cover dental and that is why I am paying for my appointment. The receptionist continued to inform me, (even though she had not read my medicaid plan) that medicaid does cover dental and by law if they were to schedule me they would have to accept my insurance and they are not taking new medicaid patients at this time and I would have to find somewhere that accepts medicaid. I cannot even truly explain how upset I was to be treated this way. I was, willing to pay full price to have my teeth cleaned and instead was shunned away. I never knew a Dr.s office to not take money over insurance.
