The mission of the ND Department of Health is to improve the length and quality of life for all North Dakotans.
Under the supervision of the State Health Officer, there are the eight sections: Administrative Services; Healthy & Safe Communities; Disease Control & Forensic Pathology; Health Resources & Response; Licensure & Certification; Laboratory Services; Office of the State Epidemiologist; and Outreach & Response.
These sections provide core public health services by working to prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, prevent injuries, promote and encourage healthy behaviors, respond to disasters and assist communities in recovery, and ensure the quality and accessibility of health services.
