My husband experienced a medical emergency while we were on vacation
We were concerned having to go to a facility 5 hours from home. But from the moment we were transferred to Novant Health Hanover Regional we were treated with compassion and professionalism. We can't say enough good things about the Staff from the Doctors, Nurses and other staff members. It was obvious everyone at the Hospital cared about taking care of their patients and the patients' family members as well. Thank you for a job well done!

I had two long stays at Novant Health due to serious health related issues. In 2023 for over a month and in 2026 for two weeks. The one thing I can honestly say is the kindness, compassion and care of the nursing staff is highly notable. It’s very difficult and challenging being in a hospital for long periods but when you have amazing nurses that respond with care, understanding and empathy, the entire experience becomes much more palatable. I’m eternally thankful for the so many nurses that took care of me. Their work is indeed a blessing to patients lives. Of course, I extend that to my doctor and the rest of the medical team at Novant Health. God Blessings!

Was rushed by ambulance over the weekend. Ended up in the cardiac short stay unit. I was very apprehensive as there has been so much negativity regarding the hospital. I have to say the care I received was excellent. Everyone in the cardiac short stay unit was professional and kind. Thank you all

My experience with Novant Health in Wilmington left me feeling dismissed, unheard, and deeply concerned about the quality of patient-centered care I received.
I came in with worsening symptoms that I knew were not normal. Despite clearly communicating how my condition was progressing, I felt as though I was being medically gaslit. Because my lab values, MRIs, and echocardiograms appeared “normal,” my very real and escalating symptoms were repeatedly minimized and ultimately labeled as psychosomatic.
What made this even more troubling was the apparent bias I experienced due to my mental health history. I was open about having bipolar disorder, yet instead of being treated with thoughtful, comprehensive care, it felt like my concerns were filtered through that diagnosis—used as a reason to discredit rather than to better support me.
When I expressed serious concerns about continuing my pregnancy—considering both my physical health and mental well-being, as well as the safety of my child—I was not met with compassion or proactive care. Instead, I was essentially told that I would need to “stick it out” for several more weeks, or wait until my condition, specifically preeclampsia, became severe enough to warrant intervention. Being told, in so many words, that I would only be taken seriously once my health took a dangerous turn is unacceptable.
No patient should feel like they have to get sicker to be believed.
Healthcare is supposed to be built on trust, listening, and early intervention—not dismissal and delay. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call to examine how patients—especially those with mental health histories—are treated when they advocate for themselves.
I deserved to be heard. I deserved better care.

Recently treated in ED for emergency situation. Upon arrival by ambulance until being discharged I was treated with respect professionally by kind caring RNs , MDs, Radiology Tech, RT (and many others) All of these team members functioned like a precision group. I never once felt forgotten or ignored. I feel so fortunate to have such fine medical care close to where I live. Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen!!
