Very pleasant and great experience. Just wish the therapist had more time slots. Very difficult to get appointments with Novant counselors in Charlotte/Fort Mill area. I live in SC and don’t want to drive far away.
I was referred to this office by my physician for psychiatric care and called to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, my experience with Lilian was very disappointing. I found her to be dismissive and unhelpful during the scheduling process. I was already feeling vulnerable seeking psychiatric support, and the interaction left me feeling discouraged rather than supported.
When I asked Lilian questions about availability and next steps, I did not feel that my concerns were addressed clearly. The tone of the conversation came across as abrupt and lacking empathy. For patients seeking mental health services, the first point of contact is incredibly important, and this experience did not reflect the level of professionalism or compassion I was hoping for.
I hope the office considers improving the way initial patient inquiries are handled, especially for those reaching out for mental health care.
EDIT 2/9/22: I would not visit this office even if I was actively dying. After waiting months for a referral from my primary care provider for a *different* psychiatrist, they not only stood me up for my appointment AGAIN, but have left me on hold for half an hour. I know people think of reviews as "suggestions" but please, do NOT attend this location.
Dr. Shanmugam is nice, but made claims that went against the therapists I had been seeing for ~5 years... When trying to schedule an appointment, first she did not show up to the visit so I scheduled another one, only to be told she was out of the office that week. If you're the type of person to forget to schedule appointments in time to refill your prescriptions, definitely do not go here for psychiatry because it is hit or miss if you can get an appointment let alone attend it.
