I had a very frustrating and concerning experience with Kids Street Urgent Care. I was billed $300 for my daughter’s visit, despite the fact that no physician ever properly saw her or rendered medical services.
A provider who identified herself as “Flo” briefly entered the room and said, “My name is Flo, I’m the provider. The MA didn’t tell me her O2 stats were that low — if I were you, I would take her straight to the children’s ED.” There was no assessment, no exam, and no treatment provided.
As I began gathering my things to leave immediately for the children’s emergency department, she stopped me and asked, “Did you pay anything? If you did, I will have it refunded back to you.” That statement made it very clear that my daughter was not actually seen or treated, and that we should not have been charged for a full visit.
Despite this, I was still billed $300.
The situation was so questionable that they offered to refund my copay — yet after that, communication completely broke down. I was in contact with the regional manager, Page, who ultimately stopped responding (ghosted both me and my husband).
Trying to resolve this has been nearly impossible. Their phone system is fully automated, and you cannot reach a real person. There is also no front desk staff available in person, so there is no way to speak with someone directly at the location.
To make matters worse, the regional manager attempted to justify the charge by saying that because a medical assistant took vitals, they could bill for a physician visit — even though no physician ever assessed or treated my child. That explanation is unacceptable.
I have since reported this to my insurance company as potential fraud. I would strongly caution other parents to be aware of their billing practices and to carefully review any charges.
