I am only sharing this to hopefully help someone else. I moved here to the area and it was not disclosed to me that my first appointment would be an office visit. I scheduled an annual visit and did not receive one. Then, the team proceeded to ask me a bunch of “patient history” questions which I assumed were normal, even got to the end and asked the staff member checking me out how much my bill was, which they responded between $0-$20. I assumed everything was fine until I received a bill for over $300. I called in to ask why and was told by the extremely rude office manager that this was because it was a new patient visit and my insurance didn’t cover this. After calling my insurance company I found out that this office had coded my visit as an obesity visit which is not covered under my insurance. Mind you, I didn’t even step on a scale in that office. It turned out my mistake was answering the “do you have any concerns about your health” question that I was asked in which I responded that after years of maintaining a steady weight I had gained several pounds in the last few months. I was offered drugs in which I refused and explained that was not my intention in mentioning this and that I simply noticed this as an abnormal change. I think it’s absolutely horrible that my honest answer of a seemingly innocent question seems to have been preyed upon by this office for monetary gain. I fought this for several months with no resolution and was ran in circles by Novant billing and received not a penny off of my bill despite explaining the situation at least a dozen times. I just hope someone reads this and either A. Chooses somewhere else to receive care or B. Knows going in not to answer any of their questions for this initial “office visit” because they are only trying to find things to exploit you/your insurance for. Otherwise you might also be surprised with an exorbitant bill for mentioning any health concerns you may have to your doctor during your visit.

Dr Korang responds thoughtfully to concerns. Conscientious, well-informed, genuinely caring physician. Melissa at the front desk is cheerfully helpful. The nurse is very kind. Great office. FIVE STARS

The response from Novant is bogus- I called the 800 line as directed, was placed on hold and disconnected. I tried multiple times- I assume the response is to make it look as if they actually want feedback. My horrible experience- I had a reaction to a medication and I called the moment they opened. I was told someone would call me right back. An hour later, I called again and was told the same thing. I drove to the office, was told I would have to wait and they would squeeze me in. The office also stated they had been too busy to call me back. I left and went to the ER. Nobody, not even the doctor, ever even called to see what happened or why I left. Being busy is understandable but having staff trained properly is a must- if a patient has an emergency, the staff should know when to pull the doctor out of a room for immediate consult or call the patient back right away and tell them to go to the ER. I will not return here.
