I've been going here for years and have never had a bad experience. My previous doctor moved so I went with the first available which was Dr. Brian Erickson. He was great, thorough, and really listened. I'm used to having female doctors but never cared who I had. So I was a little nervous for my first appointment but as soon as I met him, the nerves went away. Great doctor and very easy to talk to.

Today I had scheduled an appointment with a new provider at this practice that I hadn’t seen before bc I was having flu/cold symptoms. Dr. Retell-Isla was great, very efficient and got me in and out. However, when I was getting roomed for my appointment her CMA went to weigh me and I politely declined. I always try to decline being weighed around the holidays because I have struggled with disordered eating since high school and while in recovery it always ruins my mental health to see my weight fluctuate around the holiday season. For reference, I am a normal weight for my age and height and I was recently weighed a month ago, there has not been any significant weight gain since then. She responded in an aggressive tone “I HAVE to weigh you”. I again politely replied that she could document I declined, I also used to work as a CMA and know this is no big deal. She then proceeded to say “if we need to prescribe medication and the dose is off then that’s on you”. Again I know weight is important for dosing however I was recently weighed, I have an accurate weight on file. My issue was more with the tone which came across as aggressive and shaming and not as patient education. Once again I declined and for the rest of the visit she was cold and acted annoyed by me. I don’t type this up to complain but to warn others that maybe in recovery for disordered eating that this practice may not be the best fit for you. I have been in recovery for a while now and am doing well but I know if this has happened to me early in my recovery it would’ve been a very difficult day.
