VA VETERANS BEWARE: (See Updates below.)---Novant is billing Me for almost $300 because they scheduled and conducted an appointment & testing without getting the authorization renewed. According to Community Care, this makes them in Breach of Contract, which she called and explained to them. Before reaching out to Community Care about the issue, I had called Novant more that 3 times and been passed around. I was told I would be called back after they looked into the situation 3 separate times and no one called me back any of those 3 times. I started getting warnings that I would be sent to collections. After the Community Care person explained to them that they were in Breach of Contract, they said they'd put it through a review and call to let me know in 7-10 business days. They didn't call, so I looked at my account online and saw that it said I had no bills; that all bills were paid. So, I assumed the matter was finally resolved & they just hadn't told me. Then I get a call the next week and I'm told that the review process was completed and that the bill was "correct". The reason my account said that all bills were paid was because it was put "on hold" during the review. So, the billing person I spoke to is sending a message back with everything I told her. This time, I'm not supposed to follow up for 2 weeks.
UPDATE 1, 3/30: I responded to Novant's comment on this review. The phone number just took me back to the useless phone tree, so I sent an email last week. So far, there has been no response. Also, the 2 weeks I was supposed to wait to follow up with them again has passed. They still haven't contacted me. UPDATE 2, 4/8: It's been approximately 4 months now. As of today, after calling them many times and them saying they will call me each time, they have yet to call me back even once. No one from Novant who responded to this review ever responded either. I called the Cancer Institue again today. They have no news and stated that the person who handles this in their office has been out on medical leave since early March & won't be back until late April/Early May, but she'll call me back when she returns. They have no one filling in for her but she'll call me back...someday. Yeah, right. So, I called billing again to try to get a status update as it's been a few weeks since they last said they'd call me. They basically said it could be weeks or months & I'll know when I know. They expect me to just wait until they call but I have no reason whatsoever to believe that they will call. This whole ongoing situation and the complete and utter lack of assistance from Novant has been very stressful and has been impacting my anxiety levels. So not only are they in breach of contract and completely unhelpful at every point, they are actually harming my mental health.
Final Update: They finally wrote off the bill but they never informed me. Once again, it was up to me to find out. Thankfully, the VA elected Not to authorize renewal of their services again and brought my follow up in-house at the VA. This saved me contacting the VA to request that my services be transferrred, even if I needed to go further for an appointment, because I had no intention of returning to Novant for additional follow up at the Cancer Center. I am wary of using Novant for any services in the future and won't if I have any other option available.
