I scheduled a new patient appointment with Dr. Russell for late May, which was a bit of a wait but completely understandable. I also joined the waitlist in case an earlier opening became available.
Yesterday, I received a notification about an earlier appointment for next week and accepted it. I received confirmation that my appointment had been successfully rescheduled. However, today I was notified that I needed to call and reschedule because the doctor had a prior commitment they were unaware of.
When I called, I was told the next available appointment with Dr. Russell wasn’t until late June—over a month later than my original booking. I explained that accepting an earlier appointment offered by the office shouldn’t result in being pushed back further due to a scheduling issue outside of my control. While the staff member was polite, the only option provided was to see a different doctor, which I declined.
Based on reviews, Dr. Russell was the provider I specifically wanted to see, so I chose to cancel my appointment and seek care elsewhere.
Overall, it’s frustrating to feel penalized for a scheduling error on the office’s end. If this is how scheduling is handled before even becoming a patient, it doesn’t inspire confidence moving forward.

I was very happy with this annual visit. The disappointment is that I am moving to another State and have to find a new provider

I am so glad I went to this location.
I went to another Novant Health OBGYN location previously and it was an okay experience.
This Huntersville location is the best OB/GYN visit I’ve ever had.
It was really important to me to find a trauma informed OB/GYN .
I felt very cared for, and all of my concerns were taken seriously.
I highly recommend Rebecca Brunzell and Julia Truman, FNP.
Everything from the check in/out process to getting bloodwork done, everyone was so nice and comforting.
Everyone took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel safe the whole time I was in the office.
This is the only office I will go to from now on.
I know some people go to the OB/GYN for normal checkups and happy appointments (such as pregnancy).
But if the OB/GYN is causes a little bit more discomfort for you than the average bear, I cannot recommend this location enough.
I know this can be an intimidating experience for some of us.
I hope whoever is reading his finds the right provider.

Dr. Sexton is a highly professional and caring physician. His nurses and staff are very personable and really seem to care about you as a patient.
