I went into this GNC location today to grab one quick thing. I don’t shop at GNC ever but it was close and convenient so I went in. I found what I needed and went to pay. As I approached the register the man, Jordan, asked me for my phone number and I told him I didn’t wish to provide it seeing as I don’t shop in the store enough for their loyalty program. He then informed me that I would not be able to purchase my item without it. Which I told him, that’s not how that works, I shouldn’t be required to provide my number if I don’t want to. He then goes to state that I couldn’t do a return if I don’t provide my number. I questioned the return policy, stating that if I have my receipt I should be able to do a return and he then again stated that I would need to provide a phone number. I finally just gave him one, which wasn’t in their system, go figure. At this time he said he would “try” and do my sale with out it. Great! I pay for my item and he bags it up for me and I go to leave. When I get out of the store I look in my bag and there’s no receipt. I check my purse just in case I put it in there and nothing. So I go back in and let him know that I didn’t get one he proceeds to tell me that I didn’t get one because I didn’t give my phone number. You’re kidding, right?! I once again let him know that I needed my receipt and he begrudging printed it off after telling me that I was giving him a hard time. Ugh! Something needs to be done about this guy. I have since found out that he is actually the manager of this location, not sure how, but he is. And he is trying to coerce customers in to giving their phones numbers when there is really no need. I have looked up the store policies and spoken to another location, and both confirmed that is strongly encouraged, it is NOT REQUIRED. GNC, DO BETTER! Pay attention to these reviews, train the employees at this location to respect their customers and not hassle them for personal information.
