- MPM. PamDec 10, 20251.0This review specifically pertains to a front office encounter: Today I attempted to make an appointment for my 89 yo mother who has a few issues with her toenails. Oddly, Chapel Hill Foot & Ankle could not verify her (valid & in force) UHC health insurance-- an experience i'd never had before. We (my mom and I) actually spent a precious hour or more bouncing back and forth (by phone) between this office and UHC member services to no avail. While the receptionist ultimately scheduled her for an appointment, it was without the insurance verification, which my mother refused; Why would she want to risk a needless out of pocket expense? To this minute, I do not understand why a valid medical insurance could not be verified within a matter of a few minutes. I should add that even a subsequent call to their "business" office (only resulted in being put on hold for an excruciating length of time) & did not resolve the matter. And, UHC member services could find nothing preventing verification on their side. I found myself wondering whether this was an effort to refuse to provide my mom service for some indiscernible reason.
