Toyos Clinic was established in 1998 when Dr. Rolando Toyos was recruited by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to staff a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Toyos was responsible for eye care at the NICU for 10 years and served as the Medical Director of the Jackson Madison Surgery Center. He opened a clinic in Memphis when the Memphis Grizzlies asked him to be the team's ophthalmologist.
Melissa Toyos, MD was recruited by one the largest ophthalmology practices in the country, Discover Vision in Kansas City where she became the first and only female partner. She became a partner in Toyos Clinic in 2014.
Toyos clinic is the best in the area. I won't go anywhere else.

Me personally i will be going back to my old eye doctor in germantown, doctor asked me if i even needed glasses… like why else would i be there? And after days and days of calling to see if it was ready a month later my prescription was faxed over to my job. So unprofessional, my bf was also trying to order contacts for over a week and they said the lady who does that wasn't in and they weren’t going to be able to place the order. Once he was able o get them ordered he waited weeks and called they said they weren't ready, comes to find out they've had them since last week and didn't know. WOW.

45 minute wait time after my appointment, and I am still waiting for my glasses after a month. Every time I call, I get transferred, and have to leave a message that never gets responded to.

SHAME, SHAME!
THE DOCTORS HERE SAID THAT I HAD CATARACTS AND ALSO WANTED TO UP SELL ME 3 DIFFERENT EYE DROPS THAT WOULD HAVE COST ME $400.00 ON TOP OF THE "PROCEDURE".
IT'S A GOOD THING THAT I AM A DISABLED VETERAN AND WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE MEMPHIS V.A. TO GET A SECOND OPINION FROM AN OPTHAMOLOGIST WHO TOLB ME THAT I "DID NOT" HAVE CATARACTS AT ALL!
I DID HAVE DOUBLE VISION AND THEY WERE ABLE TO CORRECT IT BY PLACING A PRISM IN EYEGLASSES THAT ENABLED ME TO SEE CORRECTLY!
I AM GRATEFUL TO THE V.A. FOR BEING TRUTHFUL WITH ME AND DIDN'T TRY TO GIVE ME A FALSE DIAGNOSIS!
IF YOU VALUE YOUR EYESIGHT THEN YOU SHOULD VERIFY WHAT TOYOS CLINIC IS TRYING TO UP SELL YOU!...
BUYER BEWARE!... BUYER BEWARE!

Doctor is good and the place is decent, but we've had a heck of a time getting these people while they're in their office. I needed a copy of my prescription so they had to "fake one" since the doctor wasn't in the office the nurse signed one for me. Selection of glasses are way to expensive at this location for my kids. They claim their Memphis location has a better selection price-wise, but I don't get why they can't have the same selection here. Their contacts are over priced as well. I get the same lenses from Walmart for $35 a box where they charge me $45-$50 a box for the same exact brands. We did have a billing issue as well but they corrected it. They charged me for a contact lens fitting when I didn't buy contacts through them. Had to go back to the office to get reimbursed for the charge.
We were also told they're planning on cutting back on their already shortened hours coming January as well.
Its sad, because this doctor is good. I wish they were more available and had better prices. All I want is good service AND good prices. Its worth paying more for the better more friendly doctor than the franchise places, but I'm going to have to look elsewhere now because of the fact they're never there when I need them. I have to call the Memphis branch to get anything done at this location.
Good doctor - one star
Clean office and friendly staff - one star
Prices - One star loss
Office hours being cut back - One star loss
Having to fake a prescription because the doctor isn't there to give me one themselves - One star loss.
