On an evening where the ED was supposedly not super busy, I and many others had to wait long hours for a CT scan of abdomen, sitting in the waiting room, as there were no ED beds available. It took over 3 hours to get a CT scan, and then I was taken back to the waiting room to wait probably another 2 hours for a provider to see me and tell me the results. Thankfully, since I myself am a doctor and on the Medical Staff at SSM SLU, I was able to communicate directly with my gastroenterologist about my lab results and CT scan results. I know this is unfortunately our flawed U.S. Healthcare system (Emergency Departments), but nonetheless this highlights the unacceptable situation in the ED. I signed out AMA, not because I wanted to, but I had already gotten the information I needed, and could not wait several more hours past midnight before speaking to a provider. There were 2 other patients who also left AMA. My experience, simply put, was terrible. I would not ever go back to this ED. Although the staff is friendly and care about patients, the process simply is a poor one. Sincerely, David E

Wait times for ER are ridiculous… when I checked in there was no more than 12 people in waiting area. I was there for every bit of 6-7 hours and still didn’t receive anything for the pain while I was there. I do not recommend SSM health for any type of service !!!! GO TO MERCY ! It took me almost 72 hours and a whole lot of run around just to get some antibiotics 🙄😡

Very worst experience I ever encountered in a hospital. The front desk staff was very rude and racist or maybe didn’t care for the pain that people come in an say their having the doctor explained to the triage nurse and the front desk clerk that what I was experiencing was the truth it wasn’t small pain than they took precautions to get me the pain medication but I had signed myself out of this place because I wasn’t raised to hate my peers because of skin color

exceptional care starting from Shirley at the security desk, who took such care of me and my family. After her, we Met Regina the housekeeper who helped me find a way to plug my phone in so I could keep in contact with our family while my husband was being cared for, and then there was Denise from registration, who registered us but then said, would you like a blanket? Are you cold? Then there was Dr. Mitchell. Excellent at explaining everything he was doing. He stayed to make sure he had tied up loose ends before he left. This was Easter Sunday. There was an attending. I am embarrassed to say I did not get her name, but she was absolutely wonderful.. To further expound on how great this was there’s a gentleman named Eric in CT scan, my husband did not have the CT, but this man was so friendly and so kind and so gentle, his whole being just shined with care and love. Our nurse Lynette, the quiet she was quick and efficient and gentle. One of the people apologized to my husband and said I’m sorry you have to be here today and I think he summed up how we feel about your hospital the very best he said don’t feel sorry that I have to be here today. The people in your hospital saved my life.

My experience at your ER was horrible. I never did see the doctor and I was there 6 1/2 hours I ended up leaving Let me see that what do you wanna do tomorrow give me the other one you’re on life I think you’re on. I don’t think you’re on.. I fell and hit my head on some concrete and I’d already had brain surgery in 2005 at your facility so that’s why I decided to go there, but never again all they did was register me. Sent me to the front lobby. Then they took me back and wanted to know what happened the PA took a look at slapped some gauze on my open wounds didn’t clean them or anything and sent me back to the waiting room. Then they called me and I had a CAT scan scan and x-rays and a tetanus shot. And that was the last of it. I never saw any Dr or no one cleaned up my wounds or got the results from my x-rays. My wife looked on My chart and read what they had there about the x-ray. But it sure would’ve been nice if I could’ve seen a doctor to tell me exactly what was going on with my x-rays and my head. there were so many patients there that had waited a lot longer than us and that we were leaving. I feel sorry The people that come to your facility. If you’re Not brought by ambulance you might as well forget seeing anybody. Also terrible experience in the parking Area too we pulled in to where it said adult emergency and it was totally blocked off and the valet person told us that couldn’t hardly talk English to go ahead and park in the parking garage and go to the person at the first level and ask them how to get to the ER. Poor service all the way around. Thank you Richard Tillitt
