I like the set up, there was no waiting when I came and everyone was very nice. But a few things need to be changed to give a full 5 stars. The doctor that I had needed to be a little more concise and caring of why I was there, he just really focus in on one symptom, got some test and few hours came back with the findings of that test were fine and left. I guess my other symptoms really didn't matter. But on the flip side, Carol, my nurse, was very nice, that why I rated a high as I did.

Kent S Sutterer, DO at 4/3/2026 I came in complaining about headache, neck pain, chills, high BPM, and body aches for the past 4 days. On my report, they said I was negative for chills despite me having to wear a winter jacket in April to stay comfortable. I needed help and what I got from Dr. Sutterer was, "Sometimes people just have headaches." Whoever my nurse was gets 5 stars. Thank you.

Very speedy service and very respectful and accommodating to my questions and concerns. I was very appreciative of all the staff for working with me to provide me with what I needed and also what I didn't want. Thanks SSM St. Jo

The ER staff treated me promptly, they were caring, and most of all attentive to my needs. Thank you everyone especially the Xray technician, nurses supervisor, ER Nurse and triage staff. My visit was thoroughly and expeditiously.

I’ve been an RN for 8 years and am currently a supervisor with BJC. I visted SSM St Joe ER at the request of urgent care to rule out reproductive issues with abdominal pain. I was seen by a PA. The one thing that I can say is that everything was fast. That’s the only reason why I gave a star. However, I received the most biased and unprofessional care I experienced. My nurse was cool, a bit detached but I had no issue with her. The PA had the worst bedside manner. She came in, asked why I was there while looking through my papers, not even facing me showing she wasn’t listening. When I told her I was there to get evaluated for a certain condition, she said “Oh you don’t have that, you’d be in so much more pain than you are”. When I asked about a CT scan, she said she didn’t recommend it because I’m young and will probably need more scans in my lifetime so she wanted to limit radiation. Mam. Are you serious??? Then to assess my pain, she said “are you in pain? You look pretty comfortable”. I simply told her I’m fine and don’t want anything for my pain. She never gave me a chance to offer my own experience of the pain I had yet she documented in my clinical note that I refused to give her my pain scale and that I told her my pain was 9/10 but I looked comfortable on my phone. God forbid I’m a patient who wants an accurate and non biased pain assessment. Or I that I watched a video of my 1 year old to distract from the pain I was having. When my husband asked if the inflamed lymph nodes found on my CT could cause my pain, she said “I don’t know. There is nothing emergent though so follow up with your PCP”. The care I received was a joke. I’d never recommend SSM to anyone. I’ll never forget her treatment of me and will recommend that she never cares for anyone else.
