In Missouri, suicide is the second-leading cause of death among children under the age of 19. Since 2003, the rate of suicide in children and adolescents in Missouri increased by 129%. Taking these statistics into account, Missouri Delta Medical Center has opened a 15-bed Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit to provide intensive inpatient psychiatric treatment for children ages 12-17. This program has been developed for those adolescents who are experiencing behavioral and emotional problems, and staffed by an interdisciplinary team of dedicated professionals such as therapists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, recreational therapists. We accept admissions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
