I believe that my eye needs are in good hands. The staff are all professional and friendly. My doctor provides every detail about how certain things would be better for my eyes. They have a wide selection of frames as well, every test, every exam is meticulously done and all options are presented to their patients. Come join me as a patient in the best eye care place in Minneapolis.

The staff was friendly and professional. They made me feel comfortable through the entire exam. It was a really great experience and I’m looking forward to picking up my new glasses from them.

Listen, if you are walking around Minneapolis squinting at the Stone Arch Bridge like it’s a Monet painting, you need to stop what you’re doing and get to Downtown Eyes. These people aren't just opticians; they are visual wizards.
I walked in there basically seeing the world in 144p resolution, and I walked out seeing individual dust motes dancing in the sunlight three blocks away. I can now read a menu from across Nicollet Mall. It’s a superpower, honestly.
Why They Are the GOAT:
• The Vibe: The office is so sleek I felt like I should’ve dressed up just to have my retinas scanned. It’s modern, professional, and nobody judged me for how long I spent trying on frames.
• The Tech: They have machines that look like they were stolen from a SpaceX lab. They mapped my eyeballs so accurately I’m pretty sure they know what I’m thinking about for lunch tomorrow.
• The Frames: Their selection is top-tier. I went in looking for "functional adult" and came out looking like a "high-end international architect who owns a yacht."
• The Staff: They have the patience of saints. I tried on 47 pairs of glasses—twice—and they treated every pair like it was the one.
Pro Tip: If you want to actually see the potholes you’re about to hit on Hennepin Ave before it’s too late, this is the place. My eyes have never been happier. 100% the GOAT of the Twin Cities.

Reception: 5/5
Technician: 5/5
Cleanliness: 5/5
Doctor: 1/5
TL;DR: Bedside manner is important. If you have a chronic illness, make sure you see Dr. H!
My husband and I left our appointments with Dr. Zastrow today feeling embarrassed and frustrated. We came in early, all paper work completed, and with good attitudes. We knew we needed new prescriptions and were open about how we were overdue. Reception and our technician were absolutely lovely!!!
But then there was the doctor. I left in tears from a lack of empathy from the doctor. My husband, who is a pretty silent and easy going guy, told me she was not too friendly to him either. Maybe we caught her on a bad day? Maybe she doesn’t know how to talk to people with chronic illnesses? Sometimes doctors have to give bad news. That’s okay. But doing so in such a cold way? Not so much.
We saw Dr. Hemann in 2022 and had a friendly and positive experience. We assumed the other doctors would be just as lovely. I really hope we just caught Dr. Z on a bad day.
**Update**
I see the response from the owner. This response implies that my dissatisfaction with the appointment was due to a lack of understanding/incompetence. This isn’t the case. This dissatisfaction is due to poor delivery of information with a lack of compassion, empathy, and kindness. To me, this shows an unwillingness to care for the whole patient or to listen to feedback.
They won’t want me back as a patient and likely won’t call me to try to make it right. But I want to put this warning out there so that other people with chronic conditions can be warned about doctors who don’t understand the nuances of living with a chronic condition or who don’t know how to word bad news with care.
