I had the most horrific experience with Patrick at the 7:00pm yoga class on Friday, March 6th. I came here with my friend as this was her 1st time doing Hot Yoga. I was super excited about the class. Upon arriving, there was no one at the front desk to check me in. I was informed by someone leaving that Patrick was talking to a student. I waited patiently. When he returned, he didn’t greet me, just asked for my name. I told him it was my 1st time, and he found me in the system and told me the class location. There was no official introduction or any additional information provided to me. I went to the room and set up. The class itself was challenging with very few modifications. During the class, my friend was experiencing a medical emergency and had to leave. I was about to text her to make sure she was okay.
When I was getting ready to message her, Patrick scolded me in front of EVERYONE for having me having my phone out, from across the room. I was so embarrassed by this situation because his outburst caused the class to stop, and everyone was staring at me. I rushed out due to my anxiety and feeling unwelcome. I strongly believe Patrick should have informed me of the no-phone policy when I 1st arrived, especially since I stated it was my 1st time. Alternatively, he could have walked over to me and gently told me no phone was allowed, but to yell across the room in front of everyone was so embarrassing, and I was literally on the verge of tears. When I left, a few students in the hallway expressed similar frustrations with Patrick’s approach. I really hate that this occurred, as yoga is supposed to be welcoming and embracing, yet I left feeling ashamed and unwelcome.

I wanted to like it because everyone was very nice and there are a ton of class options, but I am not interested in hot yoga. You can’t rely on a class that is supposed to be unheated (per the class description) to actually be unheated (like, maybe upper 70’s at warmest). I went to a CP1 class last Friday and the room was 93 degrees (visible on the thermometer) with heat blowing out of the vents. I am glad I realized this during my free week. If you’re unsure whether this studio is a good fit for you do the free week and maybe start with class packs before committing.
